FIFA World Cup 2022 Final Match Thread - 18th December at 3PM

Who will the World Cup 2022 winner?

Argentina or France?

bots 14-12-2022 07:56 PM

France

MTVN 14-12-2022 07:57 PM

Vive la France

I've already said that the real final happened between England & France so I'm sticking with that.

So as France beat the second best team in the tournament, I'm gonna hold out on France holding Messi off.

don't care, most dull world cup final :(

I’m not sure why .. Morocco tore that France defence apart all night and England had chances galore .. surely Messi and Alvarez will get some joy ..

Then look how secure the Argentine defence and keeper are playing plus Mbappe went MIA for the last two games and Giroud was subbed off ..

Tbh it would've been interesting to have seen how Argentina would've done against Morocco.

Anyone know if Mane was with the Senegal squad during the competition to boost their moral or did he stay well away ?

I think Argentina would have been able to handle England just fine.

They went to penalties with the weakest Netherlands team that I've personally seen so I'm not so sure on that.

i think you are vastly overstating the capability of the england team as they are currently. They were very poor over the summer and were comprehensively thrashed on a couple of occasions, so the reality is that they performed above expectation at the WC

Several France players have caught colds, with Raphael Varane and Ibrahima Konate the latest to fall ill and miss training, the French Football Federation has confirmed.

Defender Dayot Upamecano and midfielder Adrien Rabiot were unavailable for the semi-final win over Morocco on Wednesday because of the illness.

Striker Randal Kolo Muani said the infected were isolating in their rooms.

"Those who are sick stay in their rooms," said Kolo Muani. "They're being taken care of by the doctors and we've been enforcing social distancing. We're very strict about it."

Forward Ousmane Dembele agreed, saying the squad "were not scared" of the virus: "We've been taking precautions and I think everyone will be ready."

Boss Didier Deschamps had said on Wednesday he expected Upamecano and Rabiot to be well enough for the final.

However, should Konate and Varane be ruled out, he will have a selection dilemma as he would be without two of his top three defenders.

Same Netherlands who beat the US team who England struggled against and only managed a scoreless draw with?

England only beat 2 weak teams (Iran & Wales) and a severely weakened Senegal (No Mane etc.) in this World Cup.

You might have a point tbf.

I honestly hope that Argentina and France can give each other a game, I want another tense match like tonight's match between Blues & Reading.

Kate! 16-12-2022 09:16 PM

I'd much prefer Argentina to win.

England I suspect threw that match to stop Iran from qualifying, but I might be wrong tbf as it is a conspiracy theory.

And we did beat Senegal by a bigger margin than the Netherlands did.

Admittedly though England and Netherlands do appear to be close in quality to each other.

I meant England vs USA which ended 0-0, while Netherlands beat them 3-1.

England did not throw that match. If they did USA would have been the winner. And Iran beat Wales in the earlier match.

Senegal v Netherlands was both teams 1st match which is usually a "get accostumed" match. Had the same match being player in KO, it would have probably been Netherlands winning by a larger margin.
