Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to start 2023, to NYC
 

A normal Boeing 787 passenger plane
will next year jet from London to New York
in a bid to prove long haul flights
can be fuelled using only
sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).


[How is sustainable aviation fuel SAF made?
SAF is made from hydrocarbon molecules
through a process called hydrodeoxygenation.
Oxygen originating from renewable
raw materials is removed with the
help of additional hydrogen.
Other impurities, like sulphur and nitrogen,
are also removed during this process.]
