[Officers from West Midlands Police
were called to Crane nightclub just
before 11.45pm after reports of the stabbing.
Cody Fisher, a semi-professional footballer who
had played for Stratford Town, Stourbridge FC
and Bromsgrove Sporting,
was pronounced dead around
30 minutes later.

Revellers at the nightclub criticised
security searches at the event and recalled
a 'moody' atmosphere inside the venue.

Sydnee Power, from Birmingham,
described 'groups of lads' who were
'looking to cause trouble'.

The 23-year-old said: 'As soon as me
and my friends walked in, we got a very weird vibe
and the atmosphere wasn't good.

'There were just groups of lads everywhere,
most of them looked moody.
'A lot of them were definitely looking to cause trouble,
they clearly weren't there to enjoy the music.'
An 18-year-old man from Wolverhampton,
who did not want to be named,
said the incident was a 'disaster waiting to happen'
because the security searches were poor
and 'anyone could have brought anything in'.]

with a proper search.

Security have a lot to answer for.
They didn't search properly.

Someone's life has been taken away just because he attended a Nightclub at the wrong time.

I honestly hope that the motive isn't because he played for a rival team, because that would be one of the worst motives of all time.

When too much alcohol’s involved and lads/Neanderthal men are involved there doesn’t need to be much of a motive when it comes to these senseless acts of violence, sadly.

It seems to have all been so unnecessary

Things like that can happen anywhere but depending on your budget you’re better-off drinking in restaurants, established bars (like Slug and Lettuce) or at home at the moment. At least those places have some degree of reasonable security compared to clubs and concerts (which I’ve never really been super-into anyway). For now it’s just safer that way.

Early Morning debating these Facts.

One fact is that either way a poor lad’s life has been taken.

Tbh I'm not a big Nightclub person either.

The security normally tends to be too lax for my taste.

Devastating fir his loved ones and another young life cruelly and unnecessarily taken from him.
Senseless.

In my clubbing days security was searching everyone.
These days they don't do that anymore.
Anyone can walk in with weapons potentially.

Tbf the Club will never reopen who would want to go there now

They intend to.
So long as the Police clear them.

They need to tighter their security. No one with weapons should get in.
And they need to keep an eye on the troublemakers.
