Dry January

Are you doing it? Have you ever done it?

I'm sort of doing it this year until I go skiing for a few days on the 19th when I'll pause it :hee:

One week down and I am enjoying a Moretti Zero with the football this evening. I never thought I'd do it before but had started cutting down on drinking towards the end of last year anyway so I'm not missing it yet, still early days though

Anyone also have any good recommendations for non alcoholic beers  the Moretti is okay but has a bit of a funny aftertaste

I did make plans to stay dry until the first game of rugby in the 6 nations.

But my local team had a big game today to stay top of div 2.

The wheels are off...:dance::dance:

No. January (after my birthday) is a depressing-enough month as it is.

Cherie 07-01-2023 05:29 PM

No to dry Jan

thesheriff443 07-01-2023 05:31 PM

I’ve never not been dry

AnnieK 07-01-2023 05:33 PM

I'm doing dry Jan.....was considering veganuary too but decided against that. I've not bothered with non alcoholic substitutes....just been drinling loads of water. No plans this weekend though....might be different when I'm out next weekend

Might be less depressing if you're healthier at the end of it :hee:

Good stuff :clap2:

Veganuary is certainly one bridge I would not cross, although I am trying to have less red meat

Crimson Dynamo 07-01-2023 06:14 PM

Depending on how you drink it can take up to 10 days to flush out your system

maybe 14 for annie

My son was definitely not having it and too much hassle to cook 2 different meals every night so we are just healthy eating

Good luck with it

I have been massively cutting down on drink for over a year or so now anyway, I don't completely avoid it . But when I drink .... it's just occasionally .

“In a study, scientists report that drinking beer can be good for the liver. I’m sorry, did I
say ‘scientists’? I meant Scottish people.”

It's wet January for me.

I just can't handle all my Christmas alcohol sitting there starring at me saying "drink me"

Lucky you having your own.

I've been peering through windows all week at bottle after bottle, each one saying, "just smash the window and save me"

Nearly did it twice...but stayed proffesional.

I’m healthy enough as it is. To hell with dry January.

Crimson Dynamo 07-01-2023 09:11 PM

i get a lot of good booze Chrimbo, great pressies and as is my nature i like to drink it all, when its done i will have a month off to let my liver regenerate..its not a January but its close

Livia 08-01-2023 11:14 AM

I realise I didn't have a drink over the holidays, my OH only had a couple of beers, as I recall. I might have January off the Ketamine.

Would normally go to the pub for a couple Sunday afternoon - today I have cleaned by bathroom and rearranged my cupboard of excess carrier bags :skull:

Least I am now rewarding myself with a can of Lucky Saint which is a very nice alcohol free beer
