This due to so many being stolen
Steaks are much cheaper in Aldi, anyway
but you have to ask for one.

Aldi of all places! Was their old theft deterrent simply putting out of date meat in the packs and changing the date?

"Please ask us if you need to buy our stinky green meat"

Crimson Dynamo 09-01-2023 11:08 AM

Where is this tho?

Liverpool :suspect:

Some of the cheeky chappies in the bookies used to steal steaks to order and sell them to pensioners in the shop for half supermarket prices for drug money. I unironically miss that place quite often, it was like living in an episode of Shameless. Like really bleak but... bleak with a great sense of humour and community. One time a wee lady in her 70's asked one of them to get her a whole leg of lamb :joker:. He got it too!

I thought about stealing steaks to sell for pocket money when i was seven

So i targetted the local Tesco but when i got there i could not reach up to the top shelf to get at them

It was the end of my criminal enterprise and in retrospect i am glad. The steaks were too high.

Yes
steal to order.

They are Shrink wrapped
so 100% sealed meat

[To prevent shoplifting,
the steaks, including £4.85 ribeyes and £4.99 sirloins,
are kept in the storeroom and Aldi customers
have to ask checkout attendants for
the cut they want]

[“They can sell them door-to-door or,
if they take enough, sell them to pubs.”

Prof Bamfield, author of Shopping and Crime,
added: “It’s not an unusual target for shoplifters.
If managers have taken the step
of hiding them away,
it shows that the store is suffering huge losses.”]

That's good, the queues weren't long enough :skull:

Why dont they put the security tags on like other supermarkets

Having to ask a member of staff would be annoying

Because if the one staff member on tills had to go running after someone when the barriers started beeping, someone else would lift all the cash out of his till :joker:.

Yes, but Customers have no choice
if you want cheap cost steak
ask the staff member to get you a Rump Cut.

user104658 09-01-2023 01:59 PM

Would be no good for me, I'm fussy about my steaks and they'd just grab whatever, they wouldn't pick out the best one :hmph:.

Also, Ribeye is the best "supermarket cut" by far, don't get stinky Rump, common or garden Sirloin or be lured by the more expensive Fillet.

Yeah definitely. Supermarket Fillet steak doesn't taste any better than Ribeye and they're tiny

Crimson Dynamo 09-01-2023 02:12 PM

Its one store and where is it?

Aldi in Dalston, East London

SO the issue is neither steaks or Aldi

its Dalson in East London

UserSince2005 09-01-2023 02:37 PM

to be fair so many people steal now. I seen people do it so blatantly, as long as the staff arent looking they dont care who else sees.

Nothing wrong with that.

Beso 09-01-2023 04:27 PM

I would prefer them stealing to feed their families. But people have to do what they have to do..
