What values do you prefer to live for?
Everyone (depending on who they are and experiences that only they would have) has their own definition of success and life-fulfilment but out of my poll-options (which I’m going to tally up now) what core values resonate with you as far as the way you life your life goes and what is it you’d want to achieve something in alignment with before the other side calls?
|
All I need in life is a roof over my head and food in my belly. Anything else is a bonus.
|
And I guess I’m talking more about unchangeable personal values that last for at least quite a while than random new year’s resolutions (I do make them but they tend not to be as personal as actual worked-up personal values that more or less stand the test of time).

Is selfishness not a value?

What values do you prefer to live for?
I had the values of honesty and hardwork instilled from a very early age …
At least /worst I’m able to sleep with a clear conscience ( if the leg pain allowed me to ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
Tbh I can respect most of the options on the poll, especially anyone that believes in any of those ideals.
For me as someone that loves entertainment, I personally support being able to create anything, as long as it's not severely illegal and objectively disgusting (like Paedophilia for example) but I doubt many writers would do a Live Action story supporting that sick community in the first place. But for example, we're gonna tone down and bore up Silent Hill 2 Remake for a modern audience is the kind of self-censorship that I can't stand in modern entertainment. Basically be more like Akiba Maid War than how that remake of Silent Hill 2 sounds out of modern entertainment. Or Saga Of Tanya The Evil & Vivy, they were great modern works. |

Very much so .. .. I am a perfectionist so I’m constantly striving for perfection but I have sooooo many flaws and that’s very difficult to cope with .. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
Yeah, I only strive for perfection in cleaning. Otherwise I can refine myself but not to the point where I’m killing myself over any minor defects or flaws (which everyone has).
|
And even in cleanliness I’m not always all that. I still wear face-masks and carry antibacterial hand-gel and stuff with me when I’m not in the bathroom bleaching stuff so there’s no question of me not getting a 99.9-something% pass-rate in most areas of hygiene but in terms of how I live day-to-day I am somewhat cluttered (I’m more clean than personally-organised in a way that would look much better than average to others). You just can’t win, you know.

I have a man-cave and ideally I like it to be pristine but of late things have been complicated and it’s being used as a dumping ground for all my precious gadget related stuff and also the hoarded stuff - so currently it looks like Aladdin’s Cave with stuff crammed in everywhere all around my PC and chair . I can cope with this chaos temporarily - as it’s MY chaos :) One day I’ll sort everything out :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
Is this thread taken from a Harry therapy session?

To get back to my thread-topic, really, I’d probably say humanitarianism in the broader social sense is one of my values (always mind if bas been). I’m not super-interested in socialising a lot with people I don’t know that well beyond a need-to basis, as much as I love people from a distance, but only because I’m the sort of person who likes to be more analytical about these things and get to the meat-and-bones about what’s insightful psychologically and what can be done to help people best in general. Some people might-well see that as being over-analytical but different people have different wants and preferences for a reason so it is what it is.
I’m lucky enough to have a stable family as a given but one of my biggest fears over the years (more-so when I was in my teens) was/has been something bad happening to them. I probably wouldn’t be that bothered if I didn’t place high value on family so I can resonate with Niamh in a sense. |
