The New York Rangers have failed to explain why they did not honor their promise of wearing LGBTQ-themed jerseys before taking the ice in 'Pride ight
Friday' at Madison Square Garden.

After donning rainbow-themed warmup jerseys for the past few years, the Rangers chose not to skate out in similar attire this year - nor did they use rainbow colored tape as in previous years.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, the Rangers said:

'In keeping with our organization's core values, we support everyone's individual right to respectfully express their beliefs.'

Top Comment: Enough is enough. Good decision Rangers.

The answer is dogma and compelled belief and adherence to a doctrine... it's very difficult to express a broad support for LGBTQ without planting a flag that says every aspect of identity politics is without question, and that's headed in a few quite concerning directions. Through no fault of gay people themselves I might add - the issue is untempered Queer Theory.

Generally, if anyone's like, middle age or below, I just assume they at the very least passively supportive or tolerant toward LGBT rights. It's more the norm than the exception.

Posturing like rainbow insignia just feels like empty "virtue signalling". Apart from in places like Qatar, which has actual issues for LGBT people.

ETA: and outward indications which show that support or tolerance shouldn't be compelled.

To be fair I think you're over-estimating the forward-thinkingness (or maybe under-estimating the religiosity) of the US there. I think what you've said is (generally) true in the UK and most of Europe. I think many parts of the US unfortunately have a long way to go.
