Is it supporting Transphobia by playing Hogwarts Legacy?
 

I know that I'm opening up a huge can of worms here, but please keep the debate civil as I want us all to ultimately get along at the end of the day.

But onto the topic, do you think it's supporting Transphobia/endorsing J.K Rowling's Political views if you were to buy Hogwarts Legacy?

Personally as someone that's a casual fan of the Harry Potter franchise I can honestly see why die hard Harry Potter fans would be interested in checking the Game out, and I also don't know if it's entirely fair to punish the developers for something that someone that has no involvement in the creative process of the Game has said, especially when these developers might not even agree with her views on the Transgender community.

Having said that I do honestly understand why some people are wanting to boycott the Game as it's their right to do that, and again I don't feel like they should be made to feel bad for wanting to boycott the Game, just like people shouldn't be made to feel bad if they want to play the Game.

Apologies for a MOR opinion, but it's just how I honestly feel.:laugh:

No because pointing out that opportunistic men will take advantage of self id is not transphobic...it’s a common sense take on human nature

I don't believe that JK Rowling is transphobic anyway but is it endorsing her views to buy the game? I wouldn't have thought so, does that mean you have to agree with every political stand point every artist has before you can buy their stuff? What a world we live in where people can't have different opinions on stuff if that's the case. Anyway pretty sure the game is doing great with pre orders anyway so I don't think that loud minority shouting are going to effect sales much, just like it had no effect on her book sales :shrug:

The outcry over buying this Harry Potter game ... actually makes me want to buy it just to annoy them further,and I haven't played video games for years lol.

Other than it using her mid IP has she even had any creative involvement in it? I thought she was just a professional tweeter these days. Either way if I was to ever play it'd be second hand.

Is this why ITV2 have stopped playing the Harry Potter films back to back at weekends?

As far as I'm aware she has had no creative involvement with the Game.

Hogwarts Legacy has probably - no exaggeration - doubled it's sales targets because people tried so hard to "get it cancelled" (especially on TikTok).
