James May brands Jeremy Clarkson’s hate-filled Meghan Markle column ‘too creepy’

Always liked him best of that trio :hee:

Jeremy Clarkson’s The Grand Tour co-star James May has spoken for the first time following the broadcaster’s controversial column attacking Meghan Markle.

The former Top Gear host made headlines for all the wrong reasons last year after he wrote a hate-filled column for The Sun on his feelings towards the Duchess of Sussex.

Clarkson, 62, shared that he despises Meghan on a ‘cellular level’ and wishes to see people ‘throw lumps of excrement’ at her.

He also said that he hates Prince Harry’s wife more than he does Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister of Scotland, and the serial killer Rose West.

After issuing an apology to the couple – which they have rejected, claiming Clarkson didn’t contact Meghan individually – May has hit out, branding Clarkson’s column ‘creepy.’

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, the 60-year-old did admit that he hadn’t read the full column because he had been ‘away.’

However, he was soon informed by host Martha Kearney about what had been written.

He said: ‘Well I think he [Clarkson] did say something like: “All people my age think the same way”.

‘Well I’d like to go on record and say I don’t, and I’m only a few years younger than him,’ May stated.

Asked if he would condemn the article, he replied: ‘I wouldn’t have written that.’

‘I think it sounds a little bit too creepy but I’m also very much in favour of free speech and allowing the “haters to hate” so we can see what they have to say,’ he said.

So he's basically sticking up for Clarkson. Good on him.

He's right...it was creepy and very unnecessary & OTT .

You can dislike Meghan without going to those lengths , and I I've said already... whether the newspaper should or shouldn't have published it .... Clarkson still said what he said.

Hes smoked too much weed.

Crimson Dynamo 01-02-2023 04:24 PM

James May's whole career is based on insulting Jezzer at every turn

So normal service prevails

He's just saying what anyone not blinded by toxic hatred was thinking but we respect it any way.

Especially when their apology is patronising the people that were rightly offended at what was said.

What a load of rubbish. As if they can't get another 3 to replace them.

The charities who they play for must be pleased that they've pulled out of raising money for them.

Does it really matter what he thinks about a Hollywood actress who graduated to be a princess? He's hardly punching down.

Alf 04-02-2023 05:27 PM

Worse thing he did was apologise.

The cancel culture mob don't do forgiveness, they just see the apology like smelling blood and go all in for the kill.
