Valentines Day for kids?
So I never actually knew parents bought their kids valentines gifts, I'm not talking just a card etc I'm talking full on Xmas style gifts like toys, bikes etc...anyway like I said I had no idea until I seen it all over my social media feeds this morning.
We don't celebrate it as its also my mums anniversary but now im sitting here thinking am I **** mum being selfish not celebrating it for my little boy  Answers on a postcard or just post below due to cost of living and the price of stamps etc etc |
Some parents need their head checked, in my opinion.
All the maddest ideas come from social media these days. |
I guess it's another way they want to involve their kids , but no I don't think there's anything wrong with not doing this . There's alot of commercialised ideas out there aswell....but I guess that could be said for every celebration holiday out there .

That's a real American thing, they get Valentines for friends, kids etc. When i was there Aupairing years ago, I got Valentines day stuff from the family I stayed with which was odd  Great money making though for all those card/flower/chocolate companies
|
Resist it Josy, it was never for kids, it started with a card , now its flowers, chocolates, fizzy pink wine, teddies, underwear, expensive dinners for adults/teens, now they are coming for the kids, it must be a new thing because I have literally never heard of this, the closest we came was kids would make a card for their parents in primary school......
Don't be swayed by corporate greed! |

On Jeremy Vine , they're talking about a place that is doing valentine's dinner for dogs lol , businesses are really milking this day for all it's worth  lol .

Nice to see some people not struggling with the cost of living crisis...

Did you know 50 percent of travelers die before they are 50. |
I always find it very odd to see Valentine's cards aimed at sons or for Mums, wonder what Freud would think about it

I buy my little girl a rose each year just because she is so special and pretty and needs to know her worth and how she will be treated future.
Nothing extravagant just a simple gift. |
I thought it was dying out, seems not. I have seen some shops have a few things in, but i feel (excluding tik tock/social media insanity) it's nowhere near as popular as it used to be.
I did see one ad board at the train station which stood out, it was something like "milk tray, when you both agree on no fuss". I think that's fair, a few quid on some chocolates, that'll actually be eaten anyway. |
Make heart shaped toast and a wee vase with Snowdrops in
cost zero Romance level: high did i mention it costs nothing? :hee: |
I always sent my kids a valentines card each, once they were old enough to read.
No gifts though. |

I wished my son a Happy Valentines this morning - he looked at me, said "ewww" shook his head and disappeared into his room
So nah, he's not getting a present |

But seriously we as a society already pay heavily financially during Birthdays and Christmas, I personally wouldn't spend too heavily on any other celebratory day. |
