Thats sad.

GoldHeart 16-02-2023 07:12 PM

Really sad, I was watching discovering film and his most well known films were being discussed . I know he had to retire from acting unfortunately.

I'd say you probably heard he had Aphasia ages ago. This is new information I'm pretty sure, the article says his family just announced it

Kate! 16-02-2023 08:41 PM

No, early onset dementia I heard.

bots 16-02-2023 08:50 PM

this was only announced by his family today

I did a thread about it. But I can't use the search facility to find it.

Aphasia

GiRTh 16-02-2023 09:16 PM

Wow!!! Heart breaking.

I work primarily with Dementia sufferers. Its an awful disease, with no cure, that gets to most people.

Stats are that one in fourteen people over the age of seventy experience some kind of cognitive decline. That goes up to one in six when we are talking about octogenarian.

I feel for him and his family

Crimson Dynamo 16-02-2023 09:17 PM

UserSince2005 16-02-2023 09:18 PM

Aphasia (which it was announced he was suffering from) is often an early sign of dementia as was the case here, so maybe you read that somewhere.

Its a very sad bit of news and a terrible diagnosis to have, but (as above) sadly not entirely unexpected given the news about his health in recent years.

Maybe that's why he's been is so many garbage movies the past few years - he's been building a nest-egg "while he can", for his wife and offspring, and so that his existing funds aren't consumed by America's stupid healthcare system...

I don't think there's much danger of his funds being consumed, Bruce Willis is worth well over £200 million and he'll have extensive health insurance on top of that.

I imagine he wanted to keep working for as long as possible. If you look at his back catalogue, of course there are some great movies but he's always done a tonne of absolute garbage as well, multiple movies every year going way back into the 90's. Only maybe 10 - 15 of them are actually good movies :joker:.

Good early morning to you Toy Soldier. I'd like to apologise to you for kicking off at you earlier and calling you names that I didn't really mean but said out of a moment of being in a bad mood.

You know we don't see eye to eye but I hope you also know that I don't hold anything against you and enjoy the challenges you bring me.

I think I have said before that your challenging of me keeps me sane.

I just wish you wouldn't make up falsehoods about me, I don't think I deserve that, I think I give you honesty, unless I'm being jokingly sarcastic.

Alf 18-02-2023 01:32 AM

Did you see that Liam?

I offered an olive branch and he logged off in my face.

There's gratitude for you.

Fair. Maybe he just loves acting!

Thinking about it, the paycheck from some of the ... crapper productions would have been like nothing to him.

Good on him for putting his name to the productions of "up and coming" filmmakers!
