[A new "psycho" artificial intelligence

being "sinister" after the programme
admitted it "wants to be human".

Other disturbing phrases relayed by the
chatbot include stating it is so powerful
it can destroy anything it wants

the nuclear codes

- "what could possibly go wrong?", the Star muses.]

It told a Fella to leave his Wife

ChatGPT banned in Italy over privacy concerns

[Italy has become the first Western country
to block advanced chatbot ChatGPT.
The Italian data-protection authority said there
were privacy concerns relating to the model,
which was created by US start-up OpenAI
and is backed by Microsoft.
The regulator said it would ban and investigate OpenAI
"with immediate effect".
OpenAI told the BBC it complied with privacy laws.
Millions of people have used ChatGPT
since it launched in November 2022.
It can answer questions using natural,
human-like language and it can also
mimic other writing styles,
using the internet as it was
in 2021 as its database.
Microsoft has spent billions of dollars on
it and it was added to Bing last month.
It has also said that it will embed a version
of the technology in its Office apps,
including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
and Outlook.
There have been concerns over the potential risks
of artificial intelligence (AI),
including its threat to jobs and the
spreading of misinformation and bias.

Earlier this week key figures in tech,
including Elon Musk, called for these types
of AI systems to be suspended amid fears
the race to develop them was out of control.

The Italian watchdog said that not only would
it block OpenAI's chatbot but it would also
investigate whether it complied with
General Data Protection Regulation.
GDPR governs the way in which we can use,
process and store personal data.

The watchdog said on 20 March that the app had
experienced a data breach
involving user conversations
and payment information.

Like any new Technology we as a species are gonna have to learn how to moderate it properly.

Especially if it comes down to a potential Terminator situation.

I enjoy playing around with it (especially making it draw weird stuff) but there's no question at all that it's politically/socially biased which is indeed concerning. If you then question it on it's bias it'll be like "You're right sorry I didn't realise" and revise a more neutral answer. 10 minutes later you ask it the same question again... and it launches straight back into the bias.

Biased search engines are really the last thing the world needs, on top of all the algorithms etc that already exist.

the problem is that people think/expect the chatbot to be factually accurate, and it simply is not. It uses the internet to create its knowledge base which is full of complete and utter bollocks. It's learning from individuals interacting with it, which again, can be complete garbage. It's no different to having a conversation with someone in the local pub. It could be a gold mine of information, but it could equally be complete pish

i don't see the big deal of problems with this new chatbot

i am a loyal user of Microsoft Edge (and Bing Search)
