Paedophiles are starting to use virtual reality headsets to view child abuse
[Paedophiles are starting to use virtual reality
headsets to view child abuse images, data shows The NSPCC says the figures are "incredibly alarming but reflect just the tip of the iceberg" of what children are experiencing online.] [Use of this technology was recorded in eight cases in 2021/22 - the first time this technology has been specifically mentioned in crime reports. During that period, police recorded 30,925 offences involving obscene images of children - the highest number logged by forces in England and Wales. Of these, a social media or gaming site was recorded in 9,888 cases - including Snapchat 4,293 times, Facebook 1,361, Instagram 1,363 and WhatsApp 547. NSPCC, which collated the data, is calling for a number of amendments to the Online Safety Bill to prevent more children becoming exposed to abuse.] https://news.sky.com/story/paedophiles-are-starting-to-use-virtual-reality-headsets-to-view-child-abuse-images-data-shows-12816889 |
Honestly it's only a matter of time before there's photorealistic interactive VR - and then only a matter of time after that before some sick **** on the darkweb starts making paedo "experiences".
They'll try to justify it as a "safe" way for "minor attracted people" to satisfy their urges without hurting any real children but the known reality of child pornography of any kind is that it leads people down a path of looking at more and more extreme images, and then often to an in-person assault. VR will make that even worse. They'll get bored with the computer generated images and actually target a real child. |

Sadly True TS |
I am shocked that creepers are using technology for creepy things!!!
|
Technology always gets abused for creepy illegal stuff ,so I'm not even surprised.
|
I can’t understand why the government don’t have a department who can filter / shut any paedo related websites down and bring all concerned to justice …
This probably won’t be universally popular but I’d happily see all paedos meet their maker … from what I have read / heard there is no cure and they will always be a threat to children soooo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

The grim reality is that there's simply so much of this stuff out there, and the people trading it are so good at covering their tracks, that the resources needed to actually tackle the problem would be massive. It would take a combined, concentrated global effort to shut down the illegal activity taking place "out of sight" online. |
It's actually insane the amount of disturbing stuff on the deep web, there's a ton of YouTube videos about it . Some people seem to have a really risky morbid curiosity to explore the deep web aswell . The deep web puts me off .

I have no idea what/ where the dark /deep web is and to be honest it sounds like a place I don’t want to experience

Was just going to post this. Well said TS. But unfortunately they already get bored and end up seeking out a real life experience with what's available atm. ****ing gun to the head, that's what each and every one of those sick freaks need. |

If I'm being brutally honest I don't care about this **** if it's animated children as they're not real, but CP or something more extreme than that is where these sick ****s are crossing the line, as real children are being harmed. |

The deeper levels you can't even access on a normal browser and you need special software/encrypted connections to even access the sites which are mostly untraceable, or at least untraceable without months/years of full time work by various agencies. These sites do get tracked down and shut down but it's time, labour and resources-intensive work so realistically they can only focus on the worst and most dangerous areas. |

You’d think if someone created the deep web then the authorities could pay someone like top hackers should be able to infiltrate the system though ? I’m a technophobe so I’m well out of it :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Deepweb is actually everywhere though it's not just sinister stuff - anything not accessible to the public is a form of Deepweb. For example - the TiBB private "members only" subforum that you need 100 posts to access is part of the deepweb. Only us Tibb posters can get there. Or the Tibb staff room for example is even "deeper". |

Ooooohh - members only !? Am I a member ?? Can’t recall ever applying … Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
the whole point of VR is that it is virtual reality. The goal of all the high tech companies is to have every possible aspect of life in VR. For example, people are buying apartments, buildings, shops ... any type of real estate for real money, and its not cheap. So saying something is or will be in VR is just a given and applies to absolutely anything and everything
