[A 22-year-old woman, whose lies
caused a storm of anger and protests
after she falsely claimed she was the
victim of an Asian grooming gang,
has been jailed for eight and a half years.
Eleanor Williams was today sentenced
for perverting the course of justice.
She fabricated evidence to make it look like
she was a victim of multiple men.
The senior investigating officer,
Doug Marshall, told Sky News: "I've had cases
where people have told lies,
but never to this extent."

He added that if Williams hadn't been charged
"it just wouldn't have stopped".

At the sentencing hearing in
Preston Crown Court on Monday,
three men Williams had falsely accused
of attacking her said they had tried
to take their own lives because of
her accusations.

Mohammed Ramzan, who was accused by

Williams of rape and trafficking, said he had
tried to kill himself two weeks after being
arrested. He said: "I still bear the scars to this day."

Good, it’s what she deserves, I’m glad they’ve named and shamed her too, normally when a woman is found out to be lying about stuff like this the police keep her name out of the media, people who make up accusations like this should face full consequences

All proven liars when it comes to sex crime accusations should be dealt with in the maximum terms possible.

Sentencing, Judge Robert Altham said there was 'no explanation' for Williams' lies as he criticised her for showing 'no significant sign of remorse'. He said she was not racially motivated and chose to accuse Asian as well as white men to copy 'other cases of national prominence'.

She got off lightly Carl Beech received 18 years but then some if those accused had died with his accusations hanging over them

My sympathies lie with all her victims.
This girl needs help, seriously damaged person if you can inflict those injuries on yourself.

It's hard enough for actual victims of rape and sexual assault to be heard and to seek justice and it's because of people like her, whose actions will have the effect of making people doubt similar and true cases of assault.

It angers me greatly that these victims will face suspicion, scorn and doubt because of this case.
