Ofsted inspections are completely toxic and serve no purpose

The stories I could tell ..,”

Schools obviously need to be independently inspected it's mad to suggest they just be left to get on with it - however, it does seem cruel for inspections to have expectations that can't be met due to budgeting reasons. Schools are underfunded and the expectations placed on them should reflect that. Of course they're not doing a great job.

Her mind must have also been very very unstable. A bad school report cannot be blamed for her suicide.

At least I don't think it can.

i don't know enough about the circumstances of the bad report, it's very sad that the head teacher felt so bleak that she took her own life. Of course inspections are necessary, it doesn't surprise me that teachers are using the situation to make a point

Workplace stress can be a huge contributor in suicides especially if in combination with something like financial problems.

I'm sure there were other factors, not just Ofsted.
The inspection may have pushed her over the edge, sadly.

Well yes but if she was so concerned and anxious about ofsted, it sounds like there were probably some major issues at the school and ultimately as head teacher those come down on her.

user104658 25-03-2023 12:18 PM

I'm not saying it's RIGHT that they come down on her BTW, they should at the moment mostly come down on the government who are not properly funding and supporting education just like everything else. Teachers are doing their best with the resources they have - but it's often just not enough.

That really doesn't apply to the situation in state schools :umm2:

True but there are some people who are very vulnerable and others who would just say, 'the report is bad', so let's make it better.' They wouldn't reach for pills.

Very said she died though for herself and family.

GoldHeart 25-03-2023 03:47 PM

Very sad , I think teaching must be one of the most stressful jobs out there .

I could never do it .

I agree.

It's a lack of budget in most cases rather than them being woke.

Although I'll never forget at the School that I went to where they rewarded bullies with day trips out of the School.:nono::umm2:

R.I.P.P. (perfect peace). Whatever other issues she did or didn’t have suicide’s always sad. I don’t know why some people struggle to comment appropriately when it comes to things like this.

Our headteacher resigned a few months ago.. great record , a fit and healthy 50 years old guy , happily married with a lovely family ,

He couldn’t stand the constant pressures ( inc financial ones ) plus the worry of keeping everybody healthy through the Covid years and it’s effects on everyone
