Uganda BANS being a LGBT

KAMPALA, March 21 (Reuters) - Uganda's parliament passed a law on Tuesday making it a crime to identify as LGBT, handing authorities broad powers to target gay Ugandans who already face legal discrimination and mob violence. More than 30 African countries, including Uganda, already ban same-sex relations. The new law appears to be the first to outlaw merely identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT), according to rights group Human Rights Watch. Supporters of the new law say it is needed to punish a broader array of LGBT activities, which they say threaten traditional values in the conservative and religious East African nation. In addition to same-sex intercourse, the law bans promoting and abetting homosexuality as well as conspiracy to engage in homosexuality. Violations under the law draw severe penalties, including death for so-called aggravated homosexuality and life in prison for gay sex. Aggravated homosexuality involves gay sex with people under the age of 18 or when the perpetrator is HIV positive, among other categories, according to the law. https://www.reuters.com/world/africa...tq-2023-03-21/ |

Not surprised African governments are known to steal from their own and take all the rights from the people.

Is Uganda a good place to live?
Uganda is a multilingual country, with English and Swahili as its official languages. The country also has a rich, welcoming culture, making it easy for expats to settle in. Most visits to Uganda are also trouble-free. Despite terrorist threats, there have been no major attacks since 2010. https://www.expatarrivals.com/africa...20since%202010. |
So are you going to take a holiday there LT?

Shocking, but no more shocking because it's a Christian country acting like the whole Muslim world.

One of my good friends down in london is Ugandan. He reckons they beat people for farting in public.
Who are we to argue with the word of god. |

Speaking of this thread I don't know why hyperbolics are being played on the "bans" (BANS) bit, as if it's new news or supposed to be surprising in any way. Uganda's never not been very anti-gay. The T. in L.G.B.T. is something else altogether for most of them. That's just the way it is. |
