Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signs six-week abortion ban into law

Florida's Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a bill banning most
abortions after six weeks, paving the way for drastic changes in access to the
procedure across the state.

"We are proud to support life and family in the state of Florida," the governor
said in a statement.

He claimed the law would "defend the dignity of human life and transform
Florida into a pro-family state".

The state's current 15-week limit on abortion is one of the most lenient in the
south-east, with many travelling from other states to Florida to have the
procedure.

The six-week ban makes exceptions for abortions in cases of rape or incest,
as long as the woman can provide documentation such as a police report or a
restraining order.

Barbaric, having to bend over backwards just to access medical procedures, these people don’t care about ‘protecting life’ they care about taking certain peoples freedoms away from them

That's like say pro-abortion people don't care about freedom, they just like killing babies.

Not everything is black and white.

Yes, he appears to have a large amount of public
supporting him.

the republicans performed below expectations because of their stance on abortion at the mid terms. So, they know what to expect if they continue down this path

Florida is full of religious extremists and people that left other states for not being bigoted enough, it’s easy for him to be popular in Florida

Yep, anti-abortion, book banning and revisionist history, won’t work on the national stage, it’s a proven election losing campaign

Having to provide proof of rape or incest too.

Knowing full well that the majority of sexual assault victims don’t come forwards at all, he knows what he’s doing

A popular family man

Between this and banning Assassination Classroom from School Libraries, he has really not been on good form lately has he?

Is Florida's governor popular?

Ron DeSantis is one of the most popular governors in America, according to a new poll conducted by Pulse Opinion Research for U.S. Term Limits. Statewide, 64 percent of Florida voters approve of the job DeSantis is doing, versus just 24 percent who disapprove.

But the majority are against the move.

And even if they weren't, it's freedom of choice, something that is being forgotten in this day and age.

I never understood the logic of people who are against abortion except if a person was raped. If you truly believe abortion is murdering babies then why would it be ok even if someone was raped? I think that proves they don't really believe its murder

We'll see how people are really feeling about this when the Election roles around.

Censorship and taking away certain elements of women's rights will not be popular with most people.

i don't think it's about logic. These politicians have all attached themselves to the radical christian movement which is huge in America. We also know that they break the law more than anyone else and are complete hypocrites too, but that is America, the land of the free

Without elucidation or explanation you may as well have said The Radical Body Snatcher Patrol.

There are definitely some Christians in America that are radical.

The radical Christians are the main block that want certain Books removed from School Libraries because "think of the children" and obviously the anti-abortion laws being passed through are fully supported by a lot of Evangelicals.

Obviously not every Christian is a radical, but there is definitely a sizable chunk in the US that are radical.
