Madeleine McCann's younger sister Amelie, 18, speaks publicly for the first time

Madeleine McCann's younger sister Amelie, 18, speaks publicly for the first time
at candle ceremony to mark 16 years since her abduction, calling it 'a sad
occasion'

  • This is the first time Amelie McCann has been pictured since she was a child
  • Amelie said: 'It's nice that everyone is here together but it's a sad occasion'

Madeleine McCann's younger sister spoke publicly for the first time last night
as her family marked the poignant 16th anniversary of the toddler's
disappearance.

Maddie was taken by a predator from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal in May
2007 when she was just three in an unfortunate accident that could have happened to any parent

Her sister Amelie, now 18, joined her parents and well-wishers last night at a
candle service dedicated to her. She said: 'It's nice that everyone is here
together, but it's a sad occasion.'

It was the first time Amelie, who is applying to go to university, has been
pictured since she was a toddler - giving a glimpse of what her older sibling
may look like as an adult.

Top Comment:

Bless Amelie and Sean having to grow up their entire remembered lives in
the shadow of their missing sister and negative media around their parents.
It must have been very challenging. I wish them both happy and peaceful
adult lives.

She must thank her lucky stars everyday that it wasn’t her that was killed/abducted

They should have asked her how it feels when people say such poisonous things about her parents, not to their faces, but from the anonymity of social media. I can't imagine how hard it's been for her. Must cut her deep.

Article doesn't even say this :joker:. News: LT edition.

I’m sure she would have more pressings questions to ask like why did our mum and dad leave us unattended in a foreign country to go out for dinner and drinks. I know I would. Anyone would.

I wonder if it cuts deeper than the loss of her sibling due to selfishness and neglect? I doubt it, but I wonder.

Its not even that I don't accept that people make tragic mistakes. But they haven't even once said "Maybe in hindsight we shouldn't have drugged our toddlers with antihistamines and left them alone in a holiday resort in a foreign country". Not once in 16 years.

Glenn. 04-05-2023 12:18 PM

I’m sorry but any parent that thinks that is acceptable and especially, when you consider some of the same parents on here act like a drag Queen reading to children is a crime you have to wonder whether they’re just idiots or just trolling.

Imagine being raised by admittedly negligent parents that at the least, contributed to your sisters disappearance, or at most (and most likely) were actually responsible for her disappearance, couldn’t imagine being raised by narcissists like that awful pair

They litterally rinsed the tax payers of money because they have freinds in high places where as other parents with missing children were pretty much told unless your rich we don't care

Show me one shred of evidence for all that. One shred.

You can Google the hundreds and hundreds of children who have not had any sort of media attention which is one of the most important thing when looking for witnesses.

You only have to ask the mother of Ben Needham on how quickly the search was over and done and she has had to fork out so much money that she doesn't have to keep searching while multi millionaires the McCanns never forked our a penny for the child they murdered

They litterally tried to get injunctions out to stop the truth being revealed, they are terrible parents

Glenn. 04-05-2023 12:46 PM

We know the facts of the case and the fact is she would not have gone missing had she not been left unsupervised while her parents went out for dinner.

Honestly you have to be trolling or an idiot to think that’s ok.

Literally? Figuratively, you mean. You don't know any of this, you don't know the truth behind whatever injunction was in place unless you've privy to information the general public are not.

You show me one parent who has never done something stupid, or forgot to do something, and ended up putting their child in danger... and I'll show you a liar. I'm not talking about leaving a kid, I mean, people throw their kids up in the air and accidentally bang their heads, they turn their back in a supermarket and their kid's gone... he McCann's have to live with this, knowing their actions contributed to the disappearance of their child. If I was acting for the McCann's I'd encourage them to sue you all for libel, jointly and severally.

Any parent who is not neglectful would not take their child to a foreign country, leave them in a unlocked accommodation alone after drugging them and not only wait to raise the alarm after finding they are not their but deep clean the property first

Happier times for the unfortunate family when guests of the Owner of Everton at Goodison and meeting Sir Harry Of Redknapp

Any parent? You have evidence to support this opinion, I guess?

I'm not saying the McCann's weren't wrong in what they did, I'm saying that they know what they did and what it led to. Now they have to live with, not only that thought, but a crown of people on the Internet claiming ALL SORTS of things for which no evidence exists.

Wait, they deep cleaned the holiday home or whatever it was first before raising the alarm?

There was blood splatters that had been cleaned but discovered then there was 2 different types of her DNA in a car that they had hired days after she had disappeared and they have always refused to take a lie detector test
