Olympic Athlete Tori Bowie has sadly died at age of 32

The sports world has lost a champion.

Tori Bowie, a track and field athlete who won three medals for Team USA at the 2016 Olympics, has died at the age of 32, according to her management agency.

"We're devasted to share the very sad news that Tori Bowie has passed away," Icon Management Inc. shared in a May 3 Instagram post. "We've lost a client, dear friend, daughter and sister. Tori was a champion…a beacon of light that shined so bright!"

The statement continued, "We're truly heartbroken and our prayers are with the family, friends and everyone that loved her."

A spokesperson for the agency told NBC News that deputies from Florida's Orange County Sheriff's Office were asked on May 2 "to conduct a well-being check of a woman in her 30s who had not been seen or heard from in several days."

The woman—later identified as Frentorish "Tori" Bowie—was found dead a home, authorities confirmed to the outlet, with the sheriff noting that there "were no signs of foul play."

A cause of death has not been given, pending investigation from the Orange County Chief Medical Examiner.

A Mississippi native, Bowie famously took home the gold with Tianna Bartoletta, Allyson Felix and English Gardner as part of the 4×100 meter relay team at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. She also won a silver medal in the 100 meter dash and a bronze in the 200 meter dash at the same Olympics.

In the wake of her passing, Bowie's teammates took to Instagram to share their thoughts and condolences. "I have so many feelings and I'm trying to be very careful about how I express them," Bartoletta wrote. "We really have got to start doing better by each other- help each other LIVE in peace before we lay them to rest in it."

Meanwhile, Gardener captioned a photo of Bowie on her Instagram Stories: "A champion ...Rest in Peace."

USA Track & Field also remembered Bowie and her sportsmanship. "Her impact on the sport is immeasurable," the organization shared in a Twitter statement, "and she will be greatly missed."

wonder what the cause of death is?

and no offense but world champion athlete, world record holder, i do think of negative effects of possible doping usage idk if she used any, and it feels wrong to speculate but at this young age i'm finding it weird

That's a possibility.

Until the information is out, some will also speculate whether she was jabbed and it was the vaccine.

She had a history of “severe depression,” apparently. Bless her.

so sad for her parents

People often ridicule people going through dark times and gossip about them in the most malicious way when it’s obvious that they’re already down rather than talk with helpful curiosity and try and help them. To hell with all the Chads of this world.

Yes depression is an awful thing that can turn a persons world upside down and inside out and it can sometimes cause families and friends to feel helpless, i do hope it was another cause but way too often its the end of a dark hole you see no way out of.

Nobody should ridicule someone going through pain and depression. If this is suicide , then it's very sad and tragic ... especially someone so young and talented. And I hope she rests in peace. There's needs to be more support and understanding for people going through mental health issues.

Severe depression feels worse than the lot of them, including cancer. At least with cancer the person knows that there’s hope with chemo. (unless it’s truly terminal). In severe depression (and the general public have no idea how severe depression can be outside the context of bipolar disorder or even that it can be psychotic) hope is one of the many things that isn’t even remotely on the radar. The people who can still vaguely function often walk around like walking skeletons (miserable as sin) and there are people out there who will laugh at/disrespect them and gossip (and I don’t mean talking out of concern or natural curiosity when I say gossip) about them at the pool-table and every cursed, stupid, silly party under the sun with the windows wide open for everyone (including and especially the person who’s actually suffering and knows themselves) to hear. There’s no sufficient language to explain how hopeless and excruciating real depression is but there are definitely one or two words to chuck at people who go out of their way to mock the suicidal. The irony is that the malicious gossips are the ones who actually would be better-off topping themselves and literally going some way to putting the actual decent people out of their misery. I hate those people with every fibre of muscle in me.

Now I'm hearing that she was pregnant when she died , if true then that's even more upsetting and sad.

There’s so much about this that’s upsetting and sad.

Gossip, gossip, gossip. How many times did I call you?

Tori died of childbirth complications this is very tragic

Olympic gold medalist Tori Bowie died in labour due to childbirth complications.

The 32-year-old, who won gold in the 4×100 metre relay at the Rio Olympics in 2016, was found dead in her home in Florida on May 2.

Bowie was discovered when Orange County police were conducting a welfare check after receiving reports that she ‘had not been seen or heard from in several days’.

An autopsy report states that Bowie had a ‘well developed fetus’, was around eight months pregnant and was in active labour at the time of her death.

The report says possible causes of death included respiratory distress and eclampsia, which can cause seizures during pregnancy.
