France bans domestic flights on routes that can be covered by a train

Easy for France to do this
they have a better State funded railway.

[France bans domestic flights on routes
that can be covered by a train in less
than two-and-a-half hours in new bid
to reduce airline emissions
Move will mostly rule out trips between Paris
and other regional hubs
Train services on the same route
must be frequent, timely and well-connected]

Great idea definitely
Not much good for Britain with our rail chaos and ridiculously high rail travel costs.
Which nothing ever gets anything done about

yeah but trains are so expensive.

UserSince2005 24-05-2023 10:32 AM

you can get cheap trains in france but you have to book way in advance.

Of course, rich people will still be able to fly. It's like the French Revolution never happened.

When i was in sao paolo. there would be a helicopter over my apartment every 5 minutes as the rich didnt like dealing with the traffic.

Indeed; my wife's off to London next week and the train is a (really quite ludicrous) £350.

Luckily she gets reimbursed for travel. That price is unbelievable.

i like taking the train with my old twat railcard. I always travel first class, which makes such a difference and it makes it cheap to do
