If the covid inquiry wants them they should be given to them.

Fishy Sunak is making his governnent look even more suspicious by dragging his heels on this issue.
No point in having a full public independent inquiry into the government's and others handling of the pandemic.
If the government can instruct its investigation and refuse what it has said it wants to examine.

no enquiry is ever independent. There is always an agenda and a final interpretation that rarely hits the mark

We know that there are big lessons to be learnt on nearly every aspect of how it was handled, but the sad fact is, it will all be completely ignored

Therein lies even more disgrace as to thus government then.

Because if there's no independent from Westminster public inquiry happening.
That is scandalous after so many lives lost unnecessarily, the wrongdoing and dubious on paper contracting

So if this inquiry can only operate at the government's dictation is absolutely shocking.
IF that really is the case.

i still remember the inquiry into the gulf war, looking into the cause for the poor chaps suicide. The inquiry chairman came back with the government were not responsible and Tony Blair had an actual smirk on his face. Someone committed suicide because of him and his government and he smirked. I've never trusted any inquiry since

Yes but so much of that data
is not about Covid.

That should be for the inquiry to decide and/or too, to disregard non relevant material.
There must be a way to separate covid matters from others.
If not then that system of communication shouldn't have ever been used in the first place on the pandemic issue by anyone in government.

The Iraq inquiry failed badly in my view.
I never could have supported the 2nd Iraq invasion.

I was only 9 when it hapoened.
However once the Iraq inquiry concluded years later I was left dismayed .

I think it's sad that you cannot trust inquiry's.
I understand why you cannot.
It's why this one should be not only be able to, however should be seen to have access to anything at all it wants to look at re the pandemic

You have no disagreement from me re Blair bots.
I agree wholeheartedly on Iraq he went along with creating a worse disaster with Bush.
It was a disgrace and I'll always believe wrong to even support Bush in going back to Iraq.

Bush used it to complete his Father's incomplete as to outcome first invasion.
Blair acted like his poodle and failed our reputation and our service personnel and their families bigtime.

Logically
you would trust them.

It appears the trust has gone

Johnson COVID WhatsApp Row Now Extended to 4PM Thursday Deadline

Could we ever simply ditch politicians and be controlled by just extremely intellectual individuals ??

Scientists, mathematicians/financiers , geologists and the like ??

Then just have appropriately qualified people controlling each aspect of our society ??

the obvious way to handle it would be to give the stuff to an independent judge to decide if stuff is relevant or not, but, that is much to sensible

joeysteele 01-06-2023 06:12 PM

This will and should look a very bad move by Fishy's governnent.
Far from looking like acting with integrity, this will look like desperate trying to hide something.

I guess it may mean holding up the inquiry for a little bit longer.

Boris is giving the messages direct to the inquiry now bypassing the government

I wonder who the government have been trying to protect? The smart money must be on Sunak
