What can you remeber from 6 year old and below.
Sand in me sandwiches, and old womens knickers(I hope)as I gazed around eating the sandwiches given to me by them on a beach. surrounded by sweaty old legs, wide apart on the 1970 deckchairs.
Spittal beach, every year for some crazy town churchy thing. The whole town invaded Berwick upon tweed from Kelso, 20 miles away. Buses decked with streamers hanging out the window for the journey. I always went with st John's.But you did have lots more to chose from like the BBs bus, or the legion bus. The town principles judging the sand castles all us kids made.. All those days are gone now for the kids of my home town. I pity them. But I dont pity them ever not having gritty sandwiches to eat as you glared at 6 old women who you believed was keeping all the ham sandwiches down their knickers for themselves when you went paddling in the sea. |
Pea souper fog, a horse and cart food delivery service, trolley buses. Long, long summers

The brysons bus....a bit like a modern....ish, ice cream van...selling sweets like a child catcher. Doors at the back opened up in every housing scheme, kids piled in pointing out what they wanted..I wonder if they are still on the go. |
I have a memory of sitting in my pram and in my Twin pushchair…and I can remember my first day at school.

I remember being a at RAF Brize Norton when my Dad came home from the Falklands. I was about 2 years and 3 months. I remember him picking me up and my Mum crying.
