Where did it go wrong re. smoking laws?

You’ll see what I mean once the poll’s all drawn-up.

UserSince2005 14-06-2023 08:07 PM

It needs to be banned in public all together.
Fed up of walking down the street and getting smoke in my face.
Disgusting habit for disgusting people.

Beso 14-06-2023 08:10 PM

As a smoker, it should be banned once I'm dead.

Dogeatdog 14-06-2023 08:19 PM

Banning 10 packs. If they did it to deter kids from smoking then it failed anyways since most kids will opt for a box of 20 instead and sell them in schools to mates as well as smoking them.

A lot of kids have disposable vapes as well which are basically the new 10 decks now (only a fiver which I imagine a price of 10 cigs would cost nowadays if they were still legal, maybe even more?)

And how many are you smoking a day these days?

Putting the pictures on the packs is ridiculous

They're thinking of putting warnings on individual cigarettes here as well, what a waste of time and money

I will just smoke it down until it says smoking causes...then pretend it said penis enlargement.

I'm not addicted though...honest.

That, too. I’d forgotten all about that.

As a previous co op front of counter employee as well...

WHEN THEY MADE ALL THE ****ING PACKETS LOOK THE SAME...THERES 20 DIFFERENT FLAVOURS
OF BLACK TO SORT THROUGH FFS.

No wonder we get such a bad rating for speed of service.

Do you feel the same about cottaging?

Advertising.

They used to advertise everything.

Benson and Hedges snooker masters
Embassy World darts championships

In Rugby league you had the Silk cut challenge cup and the John Players trophy which was later named the Regal trophy.

I think Cricket also had a Benson and Hedges trophy.

Rothams used to sponser Major sports events too.

Now gambling companies have taken over from them.

The major thing is nanny state and the people that allow the government to parent them.

AnnieK 14-06-2023 09:31 PM

I smoked when the ban came in....and in.all honesty it made me smoke more lol. I made that many new friends in the outside smoking area that once I had my first cig, I never went back in side.

thesheriff443 14-06-2023 09:53 PM

It never went wrong
Saving people from second hand smoke was one of the best ideas by banning smoking inside

You hear lots of people saying I wish I could give up
Smoking is no longer seen as being fashionable/ cool / edgy.

Side affects, bad teeth bad breath bad skin plus health problems related to smoking that include , throat cancer lung cancer plus many more

thesheriff443 14-06-2023 09:58 PM

Just to add if someone smokes I don’t have a problem at all with them smoking it’s their choice.

Spent a good few years in smoky pubs

Banning of ten packs and menthol seemed a bit baffling. I'm not sure about the greying out of the packets as well really.

That said, it is objectively a good thing to wane people off cigarettes

When asked for, all of the above can now be found within 3 to 5 minutes.by a competent co op employee.

Plain packaging and morbid images of body-parts really screwed over by tobacco is something I really should’ve included in the poll.
