Partygate report published

The Privileges Committee concludes Boris Johnson should have been suspended from the House for 90 days.

It says he deliberately misled the House, the Committee, impugned the Committee and was "complicit in the campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation of the Committee."

It adds "We recommend that he should not be entitled to a former Member's pass."

Let's see how Fishy reacts to this.

I'm personally pleased with its conclusions.
It's obvious he misled, it's one of the more negative things he is really competent in doing.
Along with other continuous political deceit and lies.

Nice one.

"a potential 90 day suspension"

arista 15-06-2023 10:07 AM

Yes his public statements
at the time have set him up for this.

it will be interesting to see how it pans out. If he has the support he claims among tory mp's there will be a coup in the next few days. Personally, i think he now has very little support at all

They will remove his pass
to Parliament.

But he can get in with as a Guest,
of another member.

Possibly
but he has left parliament like a Coward

So he can only bugger off to the USA to do talks

arista 15-06-2023 11:22 AM

Claims they think they can get into
Johnson's mind?

I certainly think there is an element of that in there, but Boris did flout the rules and he did lie. He has done the same throughout his entire political career.

People knew exactly what they were getting when they voted the tories in with a massive majority, but i don't think he has that level of support now and thats why I think he will be yesterdays news very quickly. Compare it to trump, and he has been much more successful at retaining his supporters

MTVN 15-06-2023 05:04 PM

Margaret Ferrier spoke in the Commons while knowing she had Covid and then travelled home to Scotland on the train. She got a 30 day suspension. Boris had some cake and called the committee a kangaroo court and they were going to give him 90 days :skull:

Even Nadine is bottling, so I think that is an indicator that there is no appetite to lose their seats for Bojo

Liam- 15-06-2023 05:51 PM

This whole narrative that Boris just ‘had some cake’ is so completely disingenuous it shocks me that people still try and use it

bots 15-06-2023 06:03 PM

i think most tory mp's are going to abstain on Monday which means the vote will go through easily.

I wonder if Sunak, who places such a high value on integrity, will vote

The committee making this report is literally a conservative majority - there is no stitch up. They have presented the facts. For the first time in 13 years of Tory rule, they appear to have told the truth.

That doesn't preclude it being a stitch up, plenty of Tories had knives out for Boris for a long time

And the leader of that committee certainly had it in for Boris

bots 15-06-2023 10:03 PM

what would now be very funny, is if Nadine voting saved Boris from censure

So for clarity, you think Boris hasn't done anything wrong? Or not?

I think the reaction has been disproportionate to the offence

Glenn. 16-06-2023 06:09 AM

People were literally killing themselves in lockdown whilst that load of scum were having parties

The breaking of rules was annoying but the offence was lying to parliament and the british public, i see that as very important.
