Alf's giant sausage rolls

Today I made two massive sausage rolls.

I saw a woman on line make them and they looked simple to make so I did them.

A small packet of Paxo stuffing (add boiling water and mix)
A packet of eight sausages (take off the skins)
A full tub of Brussles pate

Mix it all together. Put it in some pastry. Paint them with some egg wash. Stick them in the oven, gas mark 7 for about 40-45 minutes and Bob's your uncle, two massive sausage rolls.

Were they good?

Oh yes. Very good.

You could have them with gravy. Or even cut them up for a picnic and have them with mustard or ketchup.

Do cut some holes in them before putting them in the oven to let them btreath. I just went down them and snipped them with a pair of scissors.

I prefer the sausage to be intact.

It is.

If you wanted to be professional. You can roll your sausage meat in to shape in some cling film and let it rest in the fridge to set. I don't have time for that; I'm a busy man.

I've always preferred a beef sausage, sausage roll. Did you use pork ones?

Alf's will be taking over Greggs soon. Watch this space.

I think I can experiment with this by adding more ingredients.

I used a packet of 8 Cumberland from lidl. This was my practice run. I can easily upgrade in sausages in the future.

I usually get Richmonds but just tried some pork ones from Aldi .. cheap at £1 .25 for 8 but they were proper tasty

Dread to think what I’ve just been eating at that price

Greggs sausage rolls are gone in a couple of bites and cost about £1.30.

Mine are the size of beef wellingtons. I could easily charge a fiver.
