Charley warned for using racist slur

Quote:

Charley received a warning from Big Brother for using racially offensive language last week.

The 22-year-old was called to the Diary Room for a telling off, after she used the racial slur "******" twice in one night. On one occasion, the former lapdancer told her fellow housemates that she used the phrase "easy ******" as a greeting to a Chelsea footballer in a nightclub.

The incidents and subsequent warning were not aired on the nightly highlights programme or the live feed.

Emily Parr was booted out of the house last month for using the same word in a conversation with Charley and Nicky.

A Channel 4 spokeswoman told the Sunday Mirror: "Charley used the N-word as a black woman to refer to another black person. We judged her use of the term different from Emily's. But Big Brother called her to the Diary Room to remind her that this word could cause offence."

good she should get kicked out like emily did - why should the rules be any different !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MarkWaldorf 08-07-2007 10:51 AM

Maybe because she said that she has used it, and didn't use it towards someone, like Emily? I'm not sure, lol.

I dont see why she should be kicked out....she didnt call anyone by that name.

Billy 08-07-2007 11:15 AM

She still said a word which could have caused offence, even if seh didne mean to, Emily didnt mean to but yet she got kicked out so Charley should to

Maybe because Emily isn't a ******, then it's wrong.

I love how treatment of the opposite race is different for blacks and whites.

Finally an admission that the company see black people as different to white people and answerable to a different set of rules. It has nothing to do with context.

I'm glad we've finally cleared it up.

C4 needed a scapegoat to make them look good to OffCom:cloud:

Is everyone forgetting that Emily and Charley at that particular time appeared to be getting on but actually Emily disliked Charley and had said this. She also and held her with contempt. It must have been a very difficult decision by C4 (or should I say its lawyers) but they would have looked at that and also the fact that it was was a white person using this word as a noun against a black person which has been discussed to death over and over here.

If this story is true, C4 are now on dangerous ground because Charley has also used the world but it was outside the house, not against an to another housemate and no housemates have (that we no of) made any complaints. This is the difference.
Complaints can not be made by the public because they have not heard her say it? Odd scenario this??:puzzled:

On the official release thing of Emilys ejection it says "there is no justification to using this word" so why is Charley gettting a flamin warning!
