Ronan Keatings brother killed in car accident
 

Ronan Keating's brother Ciaran has been named as the victim of a fatal car accident.

The singer's brother was in his 50s when he died and had been travelling on the N5 near Swinford on Saturday.

It's reported Ciaran was travelling with his wife Anne Marie to watch their son Ruairi play for Cork City FC.

Ciaran's wife was taken to Mayo University Hospital to be treated for injuries which are reported to be non-life threatening.

A male driver of a second vehicle is also receiving treatment in hospital for serious injuries.

Another male passenger in the second vehicle has also been taken to hospital.

Ciaran's son Ruairí was replaced at half time during the matched between Cork City and Sligo Rovers.

A statement from Cork City FC said: "All at Cork City FC are deeply saddened at the passing of Ciaran Keating, father of our player Ruairí Keating.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to Ruairí and the entire Keating family at this exceptionally difficult time.

"May he rest in peace. We ask that the family's privacy be respected at this difficult time.

Councillor John O'Malley added: "Everyone is shocked and saddened by the awful news.

"He was highly regarded by all who knew him here and we are thinking of his wife and children and his extended family."

Christy Hyland of Mayo County Council said: "Our sympathy goes out to all the Keating family. Ciaran's death is truly shocking."
