We have an annual travelling fair each year which has been going since the year 1279. Hull fair is the largest travelling fair in Europe.

There's one in my hometown in Italy as well. It's quite nice.

When I was a kid we had a Town Show in East Ham every summer in Central Park, and a bonfire and Fireworks in November. When Newham became the first borough in the country where immigrants outnumbered the indigenous population - way back in the 90s - Newham Council cancelled both and gave us an Asian Mela on Wanstead Flats instead.

Yes. It's not a week though, usually like 3 days (Fri/Sat/Sun) with the "main" part being on the Saturday, with the bagpipes and burger vans etc.
The primary school is heavily involved so it's not "our thing" so much any more, as I have one home-schooled and one living her best 3rd-year-highschool life these days. More interested in jumping on the train to the big smoke with her pals than little local events. *sniffle*. |
