Harman's success on television and stage has facilitated a move into other television and film roles. In 2006 he played the leading role in the one-off drama thriller The Outsiders, co-starring actors Colin Salmon and Brian Cox. Later that year, he made a brief appearance in the Hollywood film Blood Diamond.

In 2007 and 2008, he made guest appearances in the Channel 4 series Comedy Showcase and City of Vice, as well as an episode of the BBC drama series Lark Rise to Candleford. He also achieved his first major film role (as singer Jess Conrad) in Telstar.

The same year, Harman was revealed as the director for the UK tour of Shrek The Musical, which opened in July in Leeds and finished in February 2016 in Salford. The tour resumed in Edinburgh in December 2017.

In October 2016, he directed a double-bill of Lunch and The Bow of Ulysses by Steven Berkoff at the Trafalgar Studios.

From January to February 2017, Harman starred in the French comedy What's in a Name? at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre alongside Sarah Hadland, Jamie Glover, Olivia Poulet and Raymond Coulthard.

Harman directed the London premiere of the musical Big Fish, starring Kelsey Grammer, which played at The Other Palace in November and December 2017.

From February to April 2019, Harman toured the UK in David Mamet's play Glengarry Glen Ross opposite Mark Benton.

During his time on EastEnders Harman won multiple awards, such as the following:

Ong it's finally happening :cheer2::dance:

Kate! 10-08-2023 09:10 AM

Oh yeeeeess!!

GiRTh 10-08-2023 11:00 AM

Good signing. Why are there no complaints about him already being able to dance. HE's had quite a long theatre career so I guess he's probably had dance training

GiRTh 10-08-2023 11:01 AM

Personally, I think the 'journey' nonsense is nonsnense. Twenty odd series and people still think they're gonna someone who terrible at the start then 'grow'.

Kate! 10-08-2023 11:14 AM

Girth do you want to be in my Tibb Strictly sweepstakes?

If he's gone to stage school then he will probably have good rhythm.
But what about Lyndon? He's a trained dancer already. Massive advantage.

He's the only one and it was over a decade ago. There is no 'journey' any more.

EDIT: Scratch that. It was almost 15 years ago

With his long stage career, I reckon Nigel has had a lot of dancing to do in various shows.

Cuz Nigel has a bit of training but not much I guess he's probably gonna be a favourite to win.

Stacey Dooley and Caroline Flack had no dance training and Hamza was quite the journey contestant

Both had dance experience. Caroline flack did a show where she was taught ballroom. Stacey Dooley too has dance experience but Ashley and Faye had more in that series.

Nicky91 10-08-2023 12:32 PM

musical theatre ain't latin or ballroom dancing though

Danny John-Jules was a good example of someone musical stage trained who came across too robotic on this show and one who also has a enormous ego

i can see Layton flop, but the other musical trained Nikita and Nigel can see them do well, they seem to have nicer personalities

as for Angela Rippon, whatever she did in terms of ballet, was in her childhood and that is a long long long time ago so, and btw she didn't like ballet that much, she liked seeing ballroom, latin dancing more as host of Come Dancing

whom have no dance background from this year (so far): Angela Scanlon, Zara McDermott, Bobby Brazier, Annabel Croft, Jody Cundy, Eddie Kadi

idk about Amanda Abbington and Ellie Leach though, although actors are trained in arts schools where they also teach some forms of performing, dancing

Alf 10-08-2023 02:27 PM

They must be on a tight budget.

Barry. 10-08-2023 02:44 PM

He’s a good signing

Redway 10-08-2023 03:13 PM

Alright, Dennis Rickman?

Hamza won off two dances imo.

Kate! 10-08-2023 07:16 PM

Hamza winning was a fooking shambles.
