How hefty is your weight up-against your alkie-bev. of choice?
And by that I’m asking how tolerant you are of your favourite/go-to alcoholic drink in the sense of how much it takes to get you seriously-and-veritably waved out. Do 3 pints of Bira Moretti, 2-and-a-half bottles of Echo Falls or a half-dozen neat shots of Bourbon just come and go as an appetiser for you or is it these very go-to drinks that get you sloshed a lot quicker than you’d like?

No one should be getting totally wasted
Because those that do usually end up in trouble with the police, in hospital or in a vulnerable position that others can take advantage of them. You can have a good time without getting legless. |

I can get merrily drunk on 4 or 5 drinks these days but I only drink 3 or 4 times a year.
At my worst I was polishing off 70cl of Jack Daniels as pre-drinks and still spending £70 while I was out. And that was 15+ years ago when drinks were significantly cheaper. I thought it was fine but I was probably at risk of a real problem. Patter of tiny feet slammed the brakes :joker:. |
I think my problem is that I’ve gotten used to seeing beer as a second water. I drink a lot (and I do mean a lot) of water so I get more than enough of the right type of fluid but beer’s just relatively easy to me. Spirits go straight through me some point after the third shot now but beer’s just something I can drink and drink and change up along the way. I never stick to just the one brand at the pub (depending on what I can afford). After 3 or 4 I’m definitely feeling something but I naturally have quite a chilled-out demeanour anyway. All beer does on that side is just make me feel more sedate and ‘slouchy’, definitely a little buzzed but not drunk.

The point I’ve reached with beer is basically all I want from alcohol on an everyday (not every day but you know) basis nowadays. Before I used to definitely have a strong preference for spirits, mostly gin and I’ll still have a G&T, Famius Grouse or some rum/Havana cocktail drink here and there but I tend to just drink beer. And a bit of cider and Lambrini. But the point is you only get one liver naturally in life so you might as well not push the limit too much and look after yourself a bit. Self-care can mean letting yourself go a little on the weekend but in moderation and drinking some green tea before and after of it could just be a nice quiet Sunday pub lunch but I agree that you don’t want to floor yourself and get arrested all in the name of having a good time.

Summer is fine for me, i work hard and keep my 6-pack drinking beer. Winter i have a beer belly. Saying all that, being sober is a much better feeling. Im just a moron

It’s very worrying when people brag about being able to down 25 pints in the space of a night but if you can drink a hefty amount of good beer in moderation and still have anything like even small four-pack now to show from June to August then good on you. Copious beer/Guinness drinking and staying ripped don’t always go hand-in-hand. Kudos to those who can make it work.
