Would you travel to space given the opportunity?

Inspired by this ('that') but I've low-key pondered about this since dinosaurs once roamed the Earth (someone in my family believed I'd be in a space-programme one day). So what's it going to be, hm (in a hypothetical scenario)? Are you travelling to the outer galaxy or not?

Another interesting Redway thread.

I'd consider it, it would be kind of cool.

i think it would be like a plane journey. 2 mins of looking at the view and then back to the in flight movie.

Bungee-jumping from an airplane or the top of mount. Kilimanjaro, anyone?

Never , ever unless I was on my very last legs and then it would be a nice little trip

What is it about space that everyone's so scared of?

Well it's not like you can even get out or go anywhere, you'd just be looking out the window and then coming home again if the Rocket doesn't explode :idc:

You can always pig out if you get the space-munchies and look out at the beautiful galaxy in a way that's more up-front than star-glazing as earthly mortals. That's a trip and a half, no?

I can just imagine going on a flight to Mars and the Captain coming on the intercomm "we are just talking a slight detour for a stop on the moon"

Then we get out and there is his cousins's restaurant and "Moon souvenir shop"

and we all have to go in and eat a really expensive meal and then buy Moon souvenirs ar Rip off prices

:oh:

Thanks for reminding me to take a good supply of Mars bars with me up there if I ever do go.

That's if they still do them. I haven't seen Mars bars around in yonks.

I hate getting on a plane but at least you get to get off at the other side and have a lovely holiday so no, not one bit remotely interested in going to space.

After my brother qualified as a pilot, he applied to the european space programme (after Concorde was decommissioned as that was his carerer path when he first qualified) and got quite far down the line but then he and his now wife got pregnant so he stuck with regular flying.

The fact a relative of yours got that far, is reason enough for me to think that I'm good on terra firma.
