[The disease was first identified in 1998 by
a team of researchers at the Faculty of Medicine,
University of Malaya during an
outbreak in Malaysia.]

From Bats to pigs to Humans.

It also infects all animals.


[Some people can also experience atypical
pneumonia and severe respiratory problems,
including acute respiratory distress.
Encephalitis and seizures occur in severe cases,
progressing to coma within 24 to 48 hours.]

Looks like there have been semi-regular outbreaks of this since 1998, and this is in fact the 4th "in Covid times", so I wouldn't be sounding the alarm horns just yet.

It's only spread by direct contact and seems like most cases are directly from the source (infected bats and/or pigs).
