This is desperately insulting to Jamie Bulger's family.

Absolutely. Don't the victims get a say at all? It's a travesty.

It's the pain Jamie's parents will be put through again with a new parole hearing.
It's like they're always being tormented.

The victims make an impact statement if they want.

Isn't this the one that's also been arrested for having CP?

If so I say lock him up and throw away the key, he is a threat to kids.

Yes, also police interview audio from the time was recently released and I'm fairly convinced by it that Venables was the instigator of the abduction and also the one who ultimately killed James (obviously mostly personal opinion only, I don't know what other evidence was given).

I get what you mean.

He has shown from James Bulger all the way till the CP crimes that he shouldn't be anywhere near kids, which releasing him to the public will unfortunately give him that opportunity.

But I think they're going to release him aren't they?

The mother of murdered toddler James Bulger has said she is "deeply concerned" about the prospect of one of his killers being released.

Jon Venables served eight years for the two-year-old's murder in 1993 and was freed on licence, along with Robert Thompson, and given lifelong anonymity.

But in 2017 he was jailed again for having child abuse images on his computer.

On Wednesday it emerged Venables had been granted a parole hearing.

Denise Fergus said hearing news had left her in a "state of shock".

Issuing a statement on her behalf, the James Bulger Memorial Trust said: "Denise remains deeply concerned about the potential release of Jon Venables, whom she considers to be one of the biggest dangers to our country.

"She firmly believes that if he is released he will undoubtedly offend again. The thought of him being allowed back into our communities is undeniably alarming."

I 100% agree with her.
It's really cruel she is forced to have to make these points over and over and still he gets more lenient treatment .

It's so clear that guy is never going to be rehabilitated, he's a danger to children and he needs to stay locked away

I say it again and again. .. we are just too soft in this country ..

Only today that idiot who escaped from prison ( under a vehicle) then went on the run for four days causing consternation to thousands- then refused to comply with the enquiry so loads of prisoners had to be moved around costing hundreds of thousands…

Well he’s pleaded NOT guilty today adding even more expense to the taxpayer

How can this vile creature be let out again. They should impose a life order.

Exactly.

Anyone that gives him a lenient sentence needs their Hard Drive checked.

BBC News Text:
[A parole hearing next month for one of
the men who killed infant James Bulger in 1993
is to take place behind close doors,
the Daily Mirror reports.
Jon Venables, who was 10 at the time
of the murder, spent eight years in jail
before being released on license,
but in 2017 was jailed again after child
abuse images were found on his computer.
Journalists and James's mother, Denise Fergus,
had argued the parole hearing should
take place in public.
The paper reports that Ms Fergus is said
to be "disappointed but not surprised" at
the decision.]

Venables is having a parole review in November

Things may have changed but not too long ago Venables was being held in a secure place about 4 miles from us - it was not a jail though - more like a secure unit with ridiculously high fences for “troubled” , mentally unstable/ unpredictable individuals.

It is.
This really makes a mockery of justice.

Livia 26-10-2023 09:29 AM

Shoot him in the head and push him into a hole. Paedos will never be 'cured'.

Kazanne 26-10-2023 09:37 AM

We were told that if one of them reoffended they would automatically go to prison and stay there, more lies from the justice and parole boards, bet he is released again with a new identity again, unfair to James's family, they have fought so hard for justice, Denise never gives up, the she and his dad have suffered through all this,I'll go with what Livia said,no room for perverts in the world, hes been recalled TWICE,so he wont be rehabilitated ever.

It's good it's been refused.

Unfortunately there'll be again a time in the future where they look at it again.

Just piling more hurt and pain on Jame's family.
It's sick.
