Boats would have been too risky. ITV would want the launch show to go without a hitch. Certainly not housemates falling into a filthy canal if the weather had been a bit choppy (the forecast is actually very good).

They'll probably close off the road outside, drop the housemates off at the entrance to the new enclosed compound and they'll walk in through the crowd.
