That seems scandalous Zizu. We pay just over 200 pounds a month. We are with British Gas.

We pay £181 a month for gas and electric.
Went up in May from £98.
About £350 in front.
Ovo energy for us.

It may be they are over estimating on the payments, i recently got a £250 refund from them

Zizu 06-10-2023 06:12 PM

Na the wife sends In monthly readings ..

We have an 60 years old gas central heating boiler / system and I run 10 snake vivariums so we expect to be paying more than the average but £367 seems excessive

I have a key for electricity and a card for gas.
Pay as you go.

That is too much. I would change supplier.

I just got one of those pay as you go smart meters. I've really tightened my belt with it all. Nothing is left on stand by, all appliances are switched off at the wall when not in use (except the fridge freezer). I charge my lamp thingy at work. Only shower now, no baths. And my heating won't be going on until i can see my own breath indoors :joker: Well, not really, but i have this lovely fluffy dressing gown a friend brought me for when i need it. But the weather is still fine for shorts and t-shirt at night in my place. Also, as it's mainly only me here atm, i can just do a wash twice and week and hang my clothes on a clothes horse to dry during the day. Or outside if im home.

I reckon for both combined im spending about £100 a month max now.

I have pay as you go, but old meter.
I usually put 10 £ each and that lasts me a week.

Yeah pretty much the same, usually put £20 on each every couple of weeks.

Pay as you go is the most expensive way to pay for gas and electric
Paying 3 monthly bills is next most expensive
Direct debit is the cheapest

Change your energy supplier first they may be overcharging as they tend to do with loyal customers

AnnieK 06-10-2023 09:06 PM

I pay £196 per month dual fuel. I have a 3 bed. With Octopus. I have a gamer and football kid so there is always tv, gaming system and washer on. Haven't had the heating on yet....
