A man walks into a forum and...

Hello TiBB :colour:!

It's been a strange few days... I've been very busy recently and last night I just couldn't get to sleep and then a combination of events all rushed to the forefront of my mind and I found myself here.

I think it's probably been about 8 years since I was regularly posting on here and, before I logged in, I checked how long it had been since I'd logged in - over 5 years!! I was amazed to see the place is still here and still busy, but of course, Big Brother is BACK! I haven't caught any of it yet... I haven't gotten round to getting a TV aerial, I bought a house in July and there is a lot of renovating to do... the TV sits on the floor, it's nice to have something to walk past when I'm running about doing things...

I have many TiBBers on social media, it's not that I'd entirely forgotten about it, I've even met a few TiBBers in real life: Shaun, Ninastar, Firewire, GhettoSuperstar... I sent a gift in Pokemon Go to ukturtle/Benjamin just the other day, I made it to BEST FRIEND with Shaun and Marc on there... And yet, TiBB just faded away from the places I visit. I think it's partly because I moved to England at the start of 2016 and tried really hard to throw myself into my new life, make friends, and actually really failed at that and found it very difficult. I lived there until the national lockdown for Covid hit, and my partner lost his job the following week, so we moved to Northern Ireland for a bit, where one day we were in the car and, I am 99% sure, drove past Jen! I lost touch with her so long ago and didn't know how to find her again, but that was another crazy reminder. Then we came back to Scotland at the end of 2020. We rescued a dog, a chow chow, a couple of weeks after we'd settled into our new home.

But it was really weird, I started a JustGiving fundraiser for chow chows needing rescued, you know, good karma and all - and shared it to a Facebook group... and it was seen and commented on by someone who I did not have on social media, a TiBB member by the name of Annie, who recognised me! I couldn't believe it. I know the world can be very small but that's an incredible memory and how wonderful that she just bit the bullet and commented on the post. We're Facebook friends now. Anyway, that popped into my head last night while my mind was serving as a placeholder for sleep, and I thought I'd pop on and have a look.

The first place I went to was the thread talking about the situation unfolding in Israel, Palestine and Lebanon. One of the things I always most enjoyed about being a member here was the Serious Debates & News sub-forum and I have been getting a bit frustrated with some of the people I have on social media just blindly sharing infographics about Israel oppressing Palestinians, no apparent regard for the murderous rampage that prompted them to cut off resources and plan for retaliation. So I read all 35 pages of that thread in the middle of the night, and thought I'd reintroduce myself this morning.

What's new... what's happening? :elephant:

Z/Greg

Didn’t he once get crabs for allegedly sleeping in someone’s bed?

That story sounds vaguely familiar now you mention it, I can't remember who was involved though

It was, there's a Tibb social group dedicated to it.

You can leave the forum but you can’t leave the past behind :bawling:

Hello! I hope you're keeping well :flower: I was very touched to see you had left a comment on my wall a couple of years ago... it is very nice to be remembered

Ooh it's like I've died and I'm a ghost reading what everyone thinks my legacy is... yes, yes I am! To this day I am convinced I got them from trying on jeans in a shop, I want to say it was Topman or H&M. I don't try on clothes in shops very often anymore, I'm a bit triggered! :bawling:

Could you believe it! The sat nav took me straight here, such a strange coincidence!

Just in time for another round of analysing strangers on TV... what a time to be alive, again! :amazed:

It has been getting more hectic recently, I'm looking forward to chilling out, I just don't know when I'll have time for it...

Hello! You know, I really believed I was the problem for the entire time I lived there, that maybe I'm just not someone people want to be friends with... but when we moved back to Scotland I made lots of new friends really quickly, so maybe I was being a little too hard on myself... I mean, I'm still terrible to talk to, but I can be terrible to talk to anywhere, not just in one place!

Ammi 16-10-2023 10:30 AM

…I’m sorry also that it didn’t work out for you in England…but I don’t think you failed in any way…sometimes we have to leave something/somewhere to find all of the reasons to go back…and to see it all with new eyes…

Ammi 16-10-2023 10:32 AM

…you were always fairly good at hosting pub quizzes if I recall……especially getting over the bumps of difficult first rounds…

I had to travel back down one last time before I started my new job (same company, different part of it...) and I felt very happy that I was just a visitor passing through. I liked being able to travel into London when I could afford it, that was a nice perk... but Reading/Oxford were not for me.
