Are Trish, Henry, Jordan etc a bit snobbish?

These three in particular definitely think they're intellectually superior to the other housemates and are able to have conversations at a 'higher level'. Trish is always nominating Paul because he's not intelligent enough for her and Jordan sneers at him as well.

Thing is not everyone is conventionally intelligent or naturally engaged in politics and other topics but there's other things that they will know a lot about. Paul seems to have worked hard to turn his life around after a difficult youth and is now succeeding in a competitive sport - maybe Trish could ask him about that. It's ironic for me that she is a real left wing firebrand yet gravitates to the more affluent housemates and is a bit condescending towards people who are non-political. Jordan also mocks Paul and the 'good interaction' they had in the morning but it's not like he's making any effort to mingle with people outside of his comfort zone. Even Yinrun had a bit of a condescending attitude towards Noky imo saying she spends too much time talking about being Miss Universe and the fact she is proud of that.

Whole point of BB is you're forced to live with people from vastly different backgrounds yet some of these people would rather exclusively spend time with the same type of people they'd hang around with all the time in the outside world

I don’t think it’s snobbish but I guess people are fuelled by conversation and the fact he’s always walking around with his top off, eating like a ‘disgruntled pelican’ and only seems to talk about what it’s like to live in Liverpool I guess that’s just not enough for someone. For me conversation is everything and if I saw Paul every now and again I would be able to have a convo with him but all day everyday living with him? No. I can understand their frustrations.

fruit_cake 19-10-2023 09:16 AM

I can see where you're coming from but when the alternative is Paul and his lewd comments or Olivia's singing, I'd feel much more comfortable with Trish Henry and Jordan personally

Cherie 19-10-2023 09:19 AM

There is definately a snobbish streak running through the show, was quite taken aback by the State School trash or words to that effect covno between Noky and Jordan

…yeah, I think that they may be just struggling to find common ground…I don’t think it’s a snobbery thing but … one of a …’we don’t have so much in common…/type thing…btw, I can’t recall who Paul nominated or his reasons…

I have yet to hear anything from Trish that would indicate she has any real depth or knowledge

As for Jordan and Sandi Toksvig they are coming across as a Hinge and Bracket tribute act

Redrose 19-10-2023 09:34 AM

Yinrun is the only one I would save out of those 4. I find the rest of them snobbish and arrogant.

well you could quite easily say the same for all the rest of the housemates too though

joeysteele 19-10-2023 09:43 AM

I expected worse from some of them as to snobbery but really it isn't at the forefront from what I've observed.
Nothing wrong with snobbery as long as there's compassion and caring attached to it.

I like the connection of Jordan and Henry but I'm pleased to see them both reaching out to others in the house too and mixing more with them.
I'm surprised with myself that if I was in there, Jordan, Henry and Trish would be more the ones If want to be closer to.

The only one ones really I'm not keen on at all.
Are Noky for some reason and Kerry who I feel I'd want to give a really wide berth to.

I'm not sure at all what I think of Paul.
However while he'd annoy me with the content of his conversation.
He hasn't been too offensive.

I still can't form a strong opinion on a few others.
Haven't seen or heard enough from them.

BBDodge 19-10-2023 09:45 AM

Absolutely. No surprise they migrated to the mezzanine where they could be isolated and look down on the rest.

Kerry had a well rounded conversation bemoaning the tax system in the UK

Niamh. 19-10-2023 09:56 AM

Nah, I took it to mean they thought he was shallow, and tbh he seems to be so.......

GoldHeart 19-10-2023 10:10 AM

Trish isn't snobby

When you listen to the conversations of the three you mention … and Yinrun and more recently Matty they are at a different level ..

I can’t abide it on the live stream when it focuses on the more rowdy, immature, vulgar people

Yes it was , the guy is thick as 2 planks.....and can't hold a decent conversation.

Crimson Dynamo 19-10-2023 10:20 AM

i mean Henry and Jordan were nominated essentially for being a pair of lazy snobs looking down on people (quite literally at times) so

go figure

MTVN 19-10-2023 10:28 AM

Jordan also made a comment last night which was something like 'they haven't formed the connections and had the conversations that we have'. Well who are you to say that other people's friendships don't hold as much value as the ones that you've formed or that your conversations are somehow more 'meaningful'. It's very patronising to other people

rusticgal 19-10-2023 10:48 AM

I would say Noky is the snobbiest one in there.

I think she's just more middle class , she talked about her upbringing being different I think.

I'm glad she calmed down over the non dairy upset shopping list , she overreacted too quickly. Dylan was there chilling...and he found her non dairy for her lol . But TBF if I had an allergy like her ... I'd be worried aswell. But she should realise BB wouldn't let her go without when it comes to essential food.

caprimint 20-10-2023 12:42 AM

I think they're more so referring to deeper/more personal conversations rather than perhaps small talk, where even if you talk to someone you just don't really seem to be able to get to know them that well. From what we've seen of Paul he just seems really chill and we haven't seen him open up much aside from with the guys on that party night they had. It's possible he's not really interested in talking to them either because he's nominated people from their side as well, so to me it looks like it goes both ways

Garfie 20-10-2023 01:25 AM

I’m working class but haven’t perceived this as a class issue. The difference I see is in the quality and depth of conversations, and in the strength in connections that have developed, as a result.

LemonJam 20-10-2023 01:42 AM

100% agree. From what I remember Jordan has especially made comments about "those people" when speaking to Henry from the beginning of the series.
