Angela Rippon should not win Strictly.

For anyone who, like me, would be really hacked off and frustrated if Angela Rippon won Strictly Come Dancing.

She's getting totally overmarked week after week. The judges adulation is sickeningly sycophantic.

She's bland at best.

Sigh.

Vanessa 22-10-2023 06:56 PM

She won't win. She doesn't have enough support.
Her dances look the same every week. Leg up in the air, then the splits.
I'm so bored of her!

Kate! 22-10-2023 06:58 PM

She'll be in the final, purely down to the judges who will save her.

She has a lot of party Latin left. If she's in the DO with a better dancer then she's going home.

I hope you're right Ness, I will try to keep the faith but I can honestly see them saving her no matter who she's up against. They act like she's a goddess because of her age.

I always look at the polls and she's always low. High scoring won't get her to the final.
Remember Ashely? She scored high and still end up in the DO.
There's no way they would save she against Leyton , for example.

Well this is mean spirited

Why, cos I don't support her? I don't have any personal dislike for the woman, I just think she's massively over rated on a dance show. It's an opinion.

Even Krishnan, who is also weak, is better than her.

It's seems your jealous because a woman 20 years older than you can dance way better then you could ever dream

So everyone who doesn't support her is jealous? Oh please!

:joker: again, a ridiculous statement. 🙄

Vanessa 22-10-2023 07:47 PM

I quite like the woman. But she's getting overmarked every week.
Others get low scores if their dance is not up to scratch.

This. She's a good looker and great for her age. She is just not one of the good dancers and keeps getting overmarked.

mods close this ageist thread

I do think she is overmarked by the judges.
However the public too are keeping her in.

I doubt she will win but then there's other celebrities I haven't thought should have won when they did.

I do however respect the fact that she's 79, the effort she clearly puts in to the training and the actual live show erformances too.
So while not my choice to win, good luck to her.

Sorry, I disagree.

I actually think they've undernarked Bobby at times.

The main overnarking this series is for Angela admittedly but the ridiculous 10 given to Eddie a couple of weeks ago.
What a mess that turned out to be from Shirley.

A lot however are being UNDER marked.
In my view anyhow.
You won't agree but there it is.

AnnieK 23-10-2023 09:22 AM

It's hardly Angela's thought if the judges overmark her.
An anti-Angela thread seems harsh

Fair comment, no its not her fault. It's still not right though. She was third on the leaderboard this week, not merited at all. I'd have placed her 3rd bottom out of the performances.

For you Annie, I will amend the thread title.

I think her dancing is amazing... And not just for her age. However.... My mother has a DVD she came across while having a clear out called 'Ballroom dancing with Angela Ripon', and there she is with a partner showing people how to dance.

Like Layton, she should never have been on the show. And I've got.my suspicions about Ellie...

she hosted many dance competitions back when she was younger yes, also where Shirley had competed in

as well as Come Dancing presenter

in terms of that ''ballroom dancing'' show, also when she was younger

she deffo still got the moves, more like Debbie McGee (whom also proved to us age is a number, and Debbie also proved on this show she still can entertain so well compared to her time on Paul Daniels's shows and her ballet background)

i liked and i agree with Shirley, her argentine tango wasn't anything overdanced but just the right amount of content, Kai really did a clever job at that, and how flexible she still is at 79 is just phenomenally amazing

Layton is 29, 50 years younger than Angela, of course he has more energy and also her experience or his experience two completely different generations

Agreed.
And some people were giving Nigel a hard time. He isn't a dance teacher, he's an actor.

Mystic Mock 23-10-2023 02:39 PM

She won't win.

She was 8th on one of the polls that I've seen, and that was after having the AT which is a big vote getter.

And when it comes to the judges scores, I would say that they're overmarking her to an extent (especially her AT ironically) but I don't think that she's one of the worst dancers necessarily either, there are some of the younger contestants that are either level or worse than her in the competition.

Nicky91 24-10-2023 01:18 PM

she won't win, getting eliminated this week, stitched up with murder she wrote
