Does she believe that there are two literal moons in orbit, or that two moons collided and combined to form the existing one?

I do remember reading a thing about a theory that Earth once had two moons, which merged in a slow-motion collision.

I have never looked deeper at it though.

The two moons in question:

It got me interested enough to have a google.

Apparently, it's called 'Kamoʻoalewa'?

The first. She believes Australia see a different moon from us.

It's interesting... It does seem to have some grounding. Not the Australia bit, but the idea in general.

Yeah What you’ve posted is interesting, I’m reading about it now. Chanelle didn’t mean this though

It sort of kind of does, if you're being very generous in your interpretation of what a moon is. There is a very small part of the moon that broke off (no-one's sure when) when the moon was hit by a meteorite and it's got a sort of weird orbit around the Earth which is influenced by the Earth's gravity and the moon's orbit.

And as Vesavius said it has been suggested Earth once had a genuine second moon, though it hasn't been proved yet.

I suppose it's possible Chanelle means one of these, but I'm not convinced!

I remember Ashleigh (BB12) asking "You know the sun? If you go on holiday and see the sun, is it still the same sun?"

It orbits the sun not the Earth though. I’ve been invested into reading more about it for the past ten minutes.

I think we might be talking about different astronomical bodies, but it could be I've made a mistake. Are you talking about 3753 Cruitne? That orbits the sun, yes.

I meant Kamo'oalewa. I'm sure that orbits the Earth (at the moment - it's gradually working its way out of the orbit), but please correct me if I'm wrong?

I’m sure I read it orbits the sun, but passes us twice a year

Mystic Mock 29-10-2023 01:44 AM

At least she doesn't believe that the Earth is flat.

Atake25 29-10-2023 05:01 AM

Chanelle thinks acting stupid is cute and a vote winner.
