Will Paul finally got a warning?

For the transphobic joke
Or will BB just hide it again from the highlights tonight

In last night live feed, he..
Spoiler:

Named a skeleton Hallie & make a "decoration" in between it's legs

bots 30-10-2023 09:44 AM

did he break a rule? If not, why would he get a warning

Crimson Dynamo 30-10-2023 09:49 AM

That’s extremely distasteful at best !!

It may even kick up a proper stink outside the house ..

all he is guilty of, in my opinion, is having the intellectual level of a child

Insensitive, unwise and not appropriate at all. A bad decision on his part, and I believe a warning will be forthcoming.

P.S. Zizu, I can’t always receive or watch live feed, and I really appreciate your little summaries of what is happening, so just wanted to say thank you. I think your posts are great too.

Crimson Dynamo 30-10-2023 10:13 AM

perhaps the op was seeing something that was not actually implied

joeysteele 30-10-2023 10:34 AM

BB is a great experiment in my view.

However if people cannot express themselves how they wish and in the house, have to watch what they say or do.
Then it would make it pointless.

Yes there's rules and they need to follow them.
However we need to see as much of the real thinking and people they are, not like programmed robots.

I really cannot see what Paul has done wrong.
In fact he is in my view the perfect type of BB housemate.
Because he can be a bit out of any norm.

We need to see the clip to judge

MTVN 30-10-2023 10:59 AM

If it was as been portrayed he'll be lucky to get away with just a formal warning

why would a grown adult do that?

Liam- 30-10-2023 11:10 AM

They won’t give him a warning or even show it on air, they’ll hide it along with his other ignorant transgressions in there

OnTheRight 30-10-2023 11:36 AM

Jeez, people go out their way to get offended.
It was a crude joke, that's all.

Black Dagger 30-10-2023 11:37 AM

People really do just love to be contrarians on here for the sake of it don’t they.

vesavius 30-10-2023 11:38 AM

I mean, it's extremely puerile and unnecessary, but it isn't 'transphobic'.

I will be glad when she is forgotten, tbh. I am over having everything negative said about her being painted as being that.

Ray. 30-10-2023 11:43 AM

Is it really transphobia to make a statement of fact in a joking tone? Don't get me wrong, I have no ill will towards Hallie at all, but at what point is 'transphobia' crossing over into a blatant denial of reality? I mean, Hallie does have a dick. Really, the only thing here that rankles me is being friendly with someone and then making a joke behind their back that you know wouldn't be appreciated by them at all.

But it's not just a joke - it's mocking another person's insecurities. And they did it because Hallie's transgender, not because Hallie has a penis. They could've named the skeleton after Zak, Dylan, Tom etc. but they didn't. They specifically chose Hallie, and they specifically chose to give the skeleton a penis, rather than a pair of breasts or a wig.

And even putting aside the argument about whether or not it's transphobic, it's just incredibly immature, really. Christ I mean even just discussing the matter gives me second hand embarrassment.

The house looked so cosy last night for Halloween. Can't wait to see the task. Jordan thinks it has 3 parts to it.

Fair points. But making jokes and mocking another person's insecurities are not mutually exclusive concepts. Otherwise, insult comedy wouldn't be a thing. I mean some would say the entire basis of comedy is transgressing social norms.

Right now, it's considered counter-cultural, in its own way, to reject what appears to be an enforced acceptance (via public shaming and 'cancelling', etc.) of transsexualism in everyday life. I suppose ultimately it comes down more to a discussion of why certain types of people should be considered a protected class who aren't allowed to be made fun of over notable attributes.

But that's not a discussion that I personally have the energy for. :joker: Ideally the BB house, imo, would be a place where people are allowed to say what they think and properly communicate what they feel, with no policing of language. But I know that's a bit of a pipe dream.

I see where you’re coming from as I couldn’t abide Halle either but they did appear to be mocking or making fun of her and her body - so when does that cross over from a bit of fun to being transphobia?
