Labour Suspends Andy McDonald MP for 3 months : speech at pro-Palestinian rally

He Shouted "Justice"

What for Hamas?
They are the Government & Terrorists
of Palestine

[Andy McDonald has been suspended as a
Labour MP, after the party said he had made
"deeply offensive" comments relating
to the Israel-Gaza war.
The MP for Middlesbrough used the phrase
"between the river and the sea"
in a speech at a pro-Palestinian rally.
Critics of a chant which contains the phrase
argue it implicitly calls for the destruction of Israel.

But Mr McDonald said his words were intended
as "a heartfelt plea for an end to the killings"
in the region.

He will now sit as an independent MP,
pending an investigation.]

This MP pushed the Line
he knew this could happen

[Andy McDonald threatens to sue
Tory Chris Clarkson MP
over Hamas claim

[Andy McDonald has threatened a fellow MP with legal action,
over a social media post about his speech
at a pro-Palestinian rally.

He accused Conservative Chris Clarkson of
making "a highly defamatory statement" about
him on X.
In his post, Mr Clarkson claimed Mr McDonald had
sought "to justify the murderous actions of Hamas".

But Mr McDonald, who has been suspended as
a Labour MP, said his speech had "called for peace".

Mr Clarkson has been approached for comment.]

His suspension is an absolute joke and should really be the start of the fall of Starmer, free speech and free thought are not allowed in Starmers Labour Party, he’s an absolute horror

joeysteele 03-11-2023 03:39 PM

I have to agree with Liam.
This suspension is a joke but also disturbing.

In conflict like this Middle East war, scrap any collective responsibility nonsense and ridiculous party line nonsense too.
People are not and SHOULD not be programmed party leader robots.

Everyone has their own thinking, emotions and positions on conflicts and wars.
They should be free to state their own conscience positions without any penalty

Honestly I've had it with Starmer.
He has me actually thinking of tearing up my Labour membership card.
He may well be claiming to hear what the Party is starting to say on this war, the thing he isn't doing is listening.
His arrogance on this issue is pitiful.

Any MP, from any party in the UK should be 100% not be seen as inciting tensions in either direction at the moment. These are very tricky times and they need to be aware of that to maintain civil order

arista 03-11-2023 03:49 PM

Andy should
not have spoken on that Big Angry Demo.

He was Edited for Social Media Fast.

I agree with Starmer
Suspending him.

Andy is now independent MP

Calling for peace for everybody is inciting tension?

Okay? And that’s the problem who actually want to divide people, his actions and his words are what should be considered, not those of others with an agenda, shame on Starmer

joeysteele 03-11-2023 03:58 PM

Utter nonsense from Starmer on this.

He is wrong and he is wrong on how he's positioned himself on this war too.
Sunak is equally wrong on it too.

he used a trope that Palestinians had been reciting calling for the wiping out of Israel and all it's people. You know this Liam, you are not stupid, and pretending something else is not a good look

Liam- 03-11-2023 04:07 PM

He called for peace for both Israelis and Palestinians, no matter which way you try and spin it to make people against the genocide happening look like terrorists/sympathisers

He was getting Tweets of a Labour MP
backing Muslims.
Not Jews/

The Extreme Muslims
Edited what he said

Of Course they would................................

Oliver_W 03-11-2023 04:59 PM

Using the phrase "from the river to the sea" was pretty stupid, given the (apparent) implications it carries.

BUT from what he was saying it's pretty obvious he wasn't using it in that context. Heck, in the same sentence he supported both sides should have peace.

His suspension is a ridiculous reaction.
