How do you reckon Yinrun will react to Trish’s racist tweets?

As it appears a lot of the tweets include racial slurs about the Chinese, how do you feel Yinrun will take hearing about this and do you reckon her friendship with Trish will survive?

bots 11-11-2023 06:22 PM

i bet we don't see Trish again associated with BB

Yinrun will understand that she has been deceived pretty quickly on her exit from the house

For whatever difference this makes, Trish's ire seems to be aimed at the "other type" of Asian to Yinrun.

AnnieK 11-11-2023 06:24 PM

I think Yinrun will speak with Trish and hear her out. I am sure she will forgive it, but it will taint their friendship somewhat as Trish will be very defensive

GoldHeart 11-11-2023 06:34 PM

If anyone bothered to watch Trish's interview, you would have seen the lovely friendship they had in the house.

Trish even wants Yinrun to win , she even said she understood Yinrun as they both have similar experiences of coming from another country.

But the moment you hear there is a very dark side to someones character it changes how you deal with them. I don't expect Trish will be allowed anywhere near any of the wrap party BB parties now. Nor do i think she will be on BBLL this coming week

Liam- 11-11-2023 06:41 PM

I’m sure everyone that has met her will judge her for the person she is now, rather than what she tweeted over a decade ago

2019 isn't a decade ago, 4 years ago actually

Maru 11-11-2023 06:50 PM

I doubt she finds out about them. It's not likely to be widely circulated and it's social. Tons of people make bad decisions on social. If she does see it and she has a problem with it, they'll discuss it and move on.

But yet Paul is a saint ?. Funny how producers edited out stuff he said in HL shows . And when he nominated Farida,he felt the need to mention her religion. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he's a closet racist.

If Paul had done something like this, you would have been on him in an instant calling him everything under the sun

It came out while he was in the house that he has a history of awfully homophobic and transphobic comments online, was there a massive fuss over it? No, so again, your assumptions are wrong

Producers also edited out stuff he said and did out of HL shows. He made a male skeleton and called it 'Hallie' . Was never shown ....how convenient eh.

Yinrun has lived under a communist dictatorship. This will be like attending a water park to her.

It's only us privileged people that get offended by words.

…a section from the welfare package that BB has pledged to each housemate…

Welfare measures put in place for all Housemates include:

Before Filming:

- All Housemates have undergone psychological and medical assessments including assessments by an independent doctor, mental health professionals and information reports from each Housemate’s GP.
- Housemates are required to disclose in confidence any medical history or other information that would be relevant to their participation in Big Brother.
- Housemates and their family and friends will be asked not to post any content on their individual social accounts for the duration of their time in the House. A “Social Media Blackout”.
- Housemates receive information about the experience of taking part in Big Brother including the possible positive and negative implications.
- Housemates undergo a series of background checks including checks of their social media by an independent specialised service.
- The dedicated welfare team and other members of the editorial and production team receive training in Mental Health First Aid and Respect and Inclusion.
- Housemates receive Respect and Inclusion training and an extensive briefing from the Big Brother Senior team to prepare them for living in the House and to set out Big Brother’s expectation for appropriate behaviour and language.
- Housemates are provided with and talked through the Housemate rules which set out expectations and explain key aspects of life in the Big Brother House.

Whilst in the House:

- Mental health professionals are available to Housemates for ongoing support throughout their time in the House.
- The dedicated Big Brother welfare team support friends and family with regular contact and updates.
Housemates’ welfare is monitored 24 hours a day and daily meetings take place to discuss welfare matters and responded appropriately where required.

After leaving the Big Brother House:

- Bespoke training on dealing with social media and press.
- A mandatory session with our mental health professional immediately after a Housemate leaves the House
- As each Housemates’ experience is unique, further support sessions will be provided specific to a Housemate’s individual needs and support will remain in place until the mental health professional(s) have agreed an end date for each individual Housemate.
- Ongoing contact by the Head of Welfare for a period of 14 months after the series has ended, with additional help provided where needed.

…the BIB…if the words were posted by Trish then the background checks on social media …and maybe other checks…can’t surely have been done….

If ITV cared, they would've more heavily researched her social media history. I don't see past tweets as career destroying, so in some ways I see the response as a bit disproportionate. There's many public figures with well-documented pasts sharing very similar sentiments. It's just few have interest in actually following up on their trails to note. ITV will only care about entertainment value and as long as she can still provide it, she'll probably still have access to that platform, but just beware there are additional liabilities there...

Andrew Tate did. He got kicked out of BB.

So did the young Scottish girl in BB 19

GoldHeart 11-11-2023 07:40 PM

Point is people like to make excuses for them . People felt sorry for Emily BB8 when she got removed .

The timing and the subject matter (Asians) is admittedly a bit odd. Maybe just because of where I am this matters, but people really don't care as much about social media because there's little to be surprised about now. This information would've been way more relevant if she was still in the house. So I think that it's a bit odd that it was shared after she had left. If it's legitimate, probably in typical X fashion we're talking about randos having their usual keyboard warrior moments and so these were dug up adjacent to some other stuff being looked at. It was not very easy to search Twitter history without knowing what to look for? I'm not on social now so can't say for sure if that's still true, but none of it would surprise me.

Emily wasn't racist in the slightest. She didn't oppress anyone based on their race. Neither has Trish. She's just made a comment. She hasn't oppressed anyone. But sadly the rules have been set that words mean oppression.

It's something I've been against. And this is the reason why.

Elliot 11-11-2023 07:46 PM

I mean yeah Ellis proved their background checks are complete bs. Random people on twitter being more adept than their ‘specialised service’
