It's Wednesday! Had no sleep yet. Insomniac.

I can't sleep, I've tried a few times and I'm still wide awake. Wired.

Vanessa 12-12-2023 11:42 PM

Same. I'm watching some TV, hoping I will get tired. :bawling:

No I'd disturb people going out of the house at this time.

Kate! 12-12-2023 11:51 PM

I'm going Christmas shopping today. I've not done any yet.

Bit of fresh air

Kate! 13-12-2023 12:05 AM

I'm getting back into bed now.

Zizu 13-12-2023 03:07 AM

Sleep is soooo overrated LOL

I used to stress as I could never get the recommended 8 hours sleep ..

Now I’m settled with 4 to 5 hours each night …

I am a bit quirky though

I've barely had any either Kate - on day 3/4 of a good dose of tonsillitis. Hopefully it starts to shift soon. :fc:

Happy Wednesday all! Halfway to the weekend!

Maru 13-12-2023 04:40 AM

Sleep is never overrated with kiddos. Still, I prefer to stay up and lose sleep to do something relaxing than to just sleep the 8 hours. I make up with napping during the day if I need it. All that said, I'm going to bed now because it's almost midnight.

Don't forget about your own safety too.

Vanessa 13-12-2023 09:46 AM

When I'm working I rarely get more than 4/5 hours. I get more on my days off.

Scientifically proven that less than 7 hours a night regularly for adults results in health issues. Not just "maybe" - definitely. Ranging in severity, of course, some people it's just minor things but can be bigger things like cardiovascular issues, especially as we all get older :worry:.

But yeah it has recently been confirmed; there is no "some people get by fine on less". The damage is being done whether you feel it or not.

Obviously this is "over the long term" - some times in life it's unavoidable that you'll get less sleep. Illness, young kids etc. but it's not meant to be permanent.

And I say that without judgement as someone who rarely gets more than 6h sleep a night due to being a carer for a child with disabilities. I am well aware that one day I'll simply wake up and have a stroke or something :joker:.

Yes I’ve seen all those stats myself ..

Trouble is there’s not a great deal most of us can do about it I guess

I did also go through a period of acute "proper" insomnia in 2nd year Uni (age 21). I was getting maybe 2 hours of disrupted sleep a night ... was exhausted - just could not sleep. I can appreciate that insomnia is absolutely awful. I've had a couple of other minor bouts that lasted a couple of weeks, but nothing like that... it was genuinely about 2h sleep a night for well over 2 months D:.

Niamh. 13-12-2023 02:07 PM

I would hate insomnia it sounds awful. I love sleeping more than most things  9 hours is my optimal. Anything less than 7 and I can't function properly during the day at all

Vanessa 13-12-2023 02:29 PM

I'm up very early for work. But I can't sleep until 11

You are Amazing

AnnieK 13-12-2023 02:44 PM

I normally get around 6.5 hours a night.....since having my son I actually can't sleep much later than 6am (he was a good sleeper but never slept past 6am no matter what time he went to bed - now he sleeps till at least 10am at weekend but I love the peace I get whilst he has a lie in).

bots 13-12-2023 04:18 PM

Some times i sleep, some times i don't. The key is to not get stressed out about it, then it will resolve itself naturally

Vanessa 13-12-2023 04:21 PM

Not working tomorrow, so I can stay up a bit.
