Why are some old TV series never repeated ??
Thinking of series like The Brothers , Onedin Line , Howard’s Way , Budgie , Shoestring , When the Boat Comes In or The Lotus Eaters ??

I've never heard of any of them.
Well, Lotus Eaters rings a bell, but I think that comes from a phrase or something? Anyway, there's such a huge backlog of programmes, which only grows every year, that there's only so much space in the schedules. If they're things I'm not even osmotically aware of, and I'm generally interested in older shows, then others of my age and younger probably aren't. So there's less of a market for them to be in the Repeats Rotation. Y'see, the whole world revolves around me and my interests, and the people who build the schedules know this. |

Just seems strange that such fabulous and extremely popular programs never see the light of day yet others like the dreadful Only Fools and Horses for example are shown over and over and over .. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
because they were all crap basically. Also, you are talking a long time ago .... 60's - 70's and they didn't take care of the tapes and stuff as well as they could have

There's a ton of TV shows & movies which never get shown, I remember watching programme's as a kid and only seeing it once ....and never again until I look for it myself.
And the annoying thing is ,they repeat the same thing on TV 500 times a day  . |

The TV Channels are lazy when it comes to repeats imo.
|
.
Watched most of them first time around. Bit dated for now I reckon. |
Here's "Till death us do part" Christmas special from the 1960s.
Enjoy and thank me later. |
I’d say advertising has a lot to do with that. A repeat of Only Fools and Horses, Friends etc would draw in more viewership than the shows mentioned in the OP because they were and still are very popular; more viewership = more advertising revenue.
Why choose to air an old show that isn’t really as popular and make less money when you can air a different show from around the same time period, that was extremely popular and make more money. It’s good business sense. |

And what do those people do with their money? Invest in wars to make more money. So you ask the question "why choose an old show?" Answer. Because maybe that is what the people want. |
BBC has made some of Britain's greatest ever comedy shows and have all that material in their archives. But they keep it from you because they'd rather fill your heads with diversity drivel.
We pay for that channel, by force. Yet they treat the paying viewers like they would slaves. And anyone that keeps tuning in, is a part of the problem. |

I mean you could write to them? Tell them exactly what you think of their channel and how lazy they are but you’d be wasting your time. |
check out britbox, there are loads of old shows on there

Just buy the Dvd boxsets. Then you can watch them whenever you like. |

I watch this episode annually. They don't make em' as good as this anymore. All natural. No editing out the dialogue errors. Actors couldn't do this these days without the editing. |
I want Manimal to be shown.
