Players who may fight their way into the England Euro squad

Add your suggestions

I’ll start with Liverpool’s Elliott and Gomez

Also Barkley ( Luton ?)

Curtis Jones deserves a shot, he has been immense for us and the u21 in the last 6-9 months

I agree but sadly we have loads of fabulous players in his position

Elliot covers the two positions RW and RWB

Gomez plays anywhere in a back 4 or 5

Won't win anything with Southgate. His team has already peaked and they still missed their chance. Down-hill is the only route from the peak.

Should have brought in a new manager to freshen them up with new ideas.

Gomez shouldn't get in cuz he's rubbish. Barkley lol

You can name the squad now cuz Sir Gareth is so predictable and its now at the stage where he gets so much media and fan backlash that he's digging his heels in about certain players.

SO it'll be usual's - Maguire, Kalvin Phillip, Jordan Henderson even if they're not playing foot ball

Yep. Get Eddie Howe when Sir Gareth fails in the summer

No thanks. He's Spanish. His aligence is to Spain.

Stuart Pearce is the man.

You don't need a tactical manager to coach already top players. They don't need coaching how to play. You just need someone that can motivate and get the best out of them.

I like Eddie Howe cuz he's shown he can play a pressing style of football. Sir Gareths tactics are too static, slow and not how most of his team plays every weekend. They're used to pressing and playing with high intensity.

Surely Newcastle will sack him at the end of the season and get some chinless wonder in but he's proved he can manage a big club and get them up the table

This would be great but I doubt it. Wages would be out of this world .

I hope England get manager with higher standards than Southgate but I doubt he'll be sacked if England get to at least the 1/4 finals

to win the euro or world cup, you need as much luck as you need to win the champions league. A team may need to be in a strong position to win 10 times before they actually manage it and that means 40 years. I think england fans have too high expectations.

GiRTh 21-01-2024 08:21 PM

I agree with BOTs but I think this squad is the best England have had for decades. In terms of of strength, England have one of the best squads at international level. It blows my mind to think of Pep or Klopp coaching Kane, Saka, Bellingham, Rice etc not to mention the players he's already worked with in Stones, Foden Grealish etc. He makes players better due to his high standard. Sadly I cannot say this of Sir G.

Yes, you need a bit of luck but the manager also needs to step up. The France game - Southgate subs bothered me. The most adventurous sub he made was to take of Stones and bring on Henderson. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but both starting full backs finished the game and neither of them was Trent Alexander Arnold. It was Walker and Luke Shaw. This is not gonna win tournaments.

Sir G doesn't seem to recognise that, like against France - "This is it. This is the moment to win a tournament. This is the time to finally become Sir Gareth Southgate and there are no more games if we lose this one. This attitude and lack of awareness of a situation cant win tournaments for England IMO

Southgate is an ex CB

His starting point is to not lose . .. then everything after that is a bonus

Ross Barkley came on the scene and looked like the next big thing. I remember watching him as an 18/19 year old and him running games.

Somewhere along the line it all went wrong for him.

Probably never should have gone to Chelsea to be a substitute player.

You need more than just ability to make it at the top.

All of the above is true but anybody who’s seen him dominate games of late can see he’s reborn and is thriving as the main man .. some are like that .
