American Nightmare - New on Netflix

Crazy story, people need to watch this so I can discuss it. Ammi & BOTS, I'm looking at you two, especially

Mystic Mock 24-01-2024 01:00 AM

Spoiler:

the very worst thing was that Aaron told them the kidnappers said they would call him again and the cops turned his phone on aeroplane mode and missed two calls that would have led them right to the creep and saved Denise from the 2nd rape. And one of those imbeciles was awarded police officer of the year. I'm astounded at how disgusting these men were, I don't think they even got an apology from anyone other than the journalist. 2.5 million was not enough compensation for what they were put through

It was certainly made much worse by the police, and the FBI, but it was historically over years that the guy had been doing it and the police didn't give a crap at any stage. When they actually started targeting the victims and actively discrediting them was where it got me. My thoughts were that the police were part of the gang that the guilty man said he was a part of

Spoiler:

it was odd that he'd been looking to take Aaron's ex and that FBI agent was an ex of hers too. He may also just have spotted her when she lived there during his peeping tom era in that area.

…oh I looked at this the other day, it’s billed as a ‘Gone Girl’ type true story …I didn’t watch it because I wasn’t sure if I’d sleep ever again, the story is so terrifying…but I’ll give it a watch, then….

There's a Pat Mustard in Father Ted, the one who put the bomb on the milk float

Ammi 24-01-2024 12:43 PM

Spoiler:

…the police department just seemed …hmmm, lazy…like, this was an unusual crime and disappearance etc…but they just seemed to want to find a ‘neat’ answer and quick conclusion to it all…it had to be Aaron, he must have harmed her and they didn’t really give any thought to any other possibility to investigate any of what he was saying…would the sleeping drugs not have still been in his system to see in a blood test…?..and how could he have killed Denise and removed the body while he had taken those sedatives…?…that wouldn’t surely be feasible…was there really blood in the house or was that just something they said to try to get him to confess to something they believed to be true…?…and why during the interview with Andrea, his ex…did they not seem to mention or pursue at all that the kidnappers had thought that it was Andrea and not Denise they were taking…they didn’t seem to pursue any possible connection that Andrea might have known them somehow…?…and then when they realised that Denise was alive, they just wanted that ‘neat’ conclusion again by inferring that she had planned the kidnapping to take some money from Aaron…and then were they inferring that it was both of them in it together and planned it…there was such determination to try to ‘simplify’ for them, what was becoming quite incredible in how it was unfolding…

…I liked when the attorney turned up and he was just…‘he’s complied with everything you’ve asked for and he’s leaving with me…/…the difference with having an attorney present and being completely alone and open to police manipulation because they’ve already made their conclusions…incredible…

..When they were interviewing Denise’s dad when he arrived, I kept thinking what it must be like to have a child go missing…beyond horrendous for a parent to go through…oh one thing, it’s not really relevant but with Denise’s mom when her wording was something like…she ‘remembered that Denise had been molested as a child…’…that just felt a bit strange to say that something had been remembered that a parent would have as forefront of their thoughts through their life….

…of course, how silly of me……it just sounded so made up like Colonel Mustard of Cluedo….

Ammi 24-01-2024 12:45 PM

…I’ll go and watch some of the second episode…

bots 24-01-2024 12:51 PM

prepare to have your mind blown in episode 2

Ammi 24-01-2024 12:59 PM

Spoiler:

…episode 2 is going to be a very difficult watch…and she’s barely out of the car boot and into the cabin…it’s impossible to comprehend how terrified she was…

Ammi 24-01-2024 01:28 PM

…honestly…the media just suck, don’t they…

Spoiler:

…these are real lives/real people who have gone through and are going through the a most horrific thing and the media are just looking to ‘glamorise it all into a Hollywood mould…’….

Ammi 24-01-2024 01:42 PM

Spoiler:

…while those kidnappers and that rapist were given more and more time to destroy any evidence etc, the police had already decided, hadn’t they….a poor woman has just been kidnapped and raped twice and they still aren’t seeing her a victim…it’s just, well beyond words…

bots 24-01-2024 01:45 PM

Spoiler:

if a woman can be kidnapped and raped and the police don't believe her, what actually has to happen for her to be believed

…and also, what chance of the courts and jury etc believing her and that’s a huge part of why many females don’t report rape violations against them…
