Apple or Samsung/Android?

Which do you use? Have you had both, which do you find the better?

I've still got my old iPhone 5s. I brought it when they first came out 100 years ago, and had like a pay as you go type deal. It's a bundle pack or whatever they call it now. I pay £10 a month (not required, no direct debit etc) and get unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and a load of data i never get through. I never wanted a big phone contract really, it never appealed to me, hence buying the phone outright back in the middle ages. Anyway, it can't download any new apps now, can't update, and the battery lasts about 2 hours when being used. Even if i don't use the phone it eats about 10% battery an hour. So begrudgingly it's time to get a new phone. I'll be buying it, no contracts, but i don't fancy paying near on a grand for a new iPhone. I was thinking of switching to Samsung/Android because they're a bit cheaper and people seem to rave about them. I was just wondering what people preferred on here and what phones are recommend, and good value?

Apple all day long

Can’t fault any of our IPhones or iPads

They are expensive but you only get what you pay for at the end of the day

it depends which suits your needs best. I shifted from android to apple and never looked back, and now that apple is opening up it's app store, the better flexibility that android potentially had will become less of an issue

What apple have got right is their eco system. Mac to ipad to phone to watch to earpods all works together seamlessly in ways that are very impressive

That’s the thing I quickly noticed about Apple

100% quality and reliability

Apple because I’m not poor

Apple.
Was bought for me as a Mother’s Day present years ago, £10 a month on Smarty for a sim that more than covers anything I need.

Well I've been looking and no way am I paying £1300 for the latest iPhone, or Galaxy. I've had cars worth less.

I have had a Samsung for years. I used to be Apple but my work provide Samsungs and now I wouldn't go back. I prefer the Galaxy watches than the Apple watches.

…wow, I didn’t realise they would be such a high cost…but like you, I’ve had my iPhone for 100 years and it struggles a bit with updates now…are there any offers for taking out broadband as well…?…

I have a iPhone 14+ on a contract with unlimited texts / calls and 12Gb of data monthly

Only about £26 a month for everything

Less than a £1 a day

Try BackMarket or similar- they do reconditioned phones from there. I got my sons Samsung from there - it was the previous years model and like brand new but a lot less (because I am not spenidng £100s on a phone he drops a trillion times a day)

Well what puts me off is being locked into a contract. I mean, it's not like im not, not gonna ever have a phone so if i was gonna be locked into contract with anything it might as well be a phone. I will have a look online for deals and think about it.

Yeah i was on the CEX website earlier, still pretty expensive but you get a 2 year guarantee, so maybe.

ebay is a useful resource for 3+ year old phones, newer ones are not such a good deal
