That Photo from Ch4 is an insult to ITV.

Tbf, ITV are a **** Channel.

I just look at how they've handled the last couple of seasons of The Masked Singer, and the fact that they had an eviction round where the crowd weren't allowed to boo unpopular Housemates on BB, as proof of their lame qualities, especially in recent years.

Ammi 29-02-2024 05:46 AM

….oh, Channel 4’s not bitter, then…

….ITV are unbothered and looking forward to their Monday launch…

…I mean, imagine feeling that’s what you had, that Channel 4 version that was so amazing…a wonderland/chocolate factory of reality TV…?….and you sold it to Channel 5, how silly would you look…very…very, very silly and dumb…they let it slip through their Channel 4 fingers, bless their little hearts…

BBDodge 29-02-2024 07:31 AM

Maybe if C4 still had BB they wouldn't be facing oblivion.

:joker: i mean.. no lies were told. Channel 4 BB is and always will be iconic.. ITV BB kinda gives cheap kids tv show vibes with the house, the set and the presenters.

There was never an eviction where the crowd ‘weren’t allowed’ to boo people

Sure
but the First Show
was pre-recorded
and that permitted the ITV sound editor
to edit the sound all the crowd made
on that first show.

That is so wrong
Liam.

I think Ch5
gave it a good go.

I am glad they put the effort in,

user104658 02-03-2024 03:40 PM

It's not untrue though is it. Channel 4 BB was absolutely iconic, Ch5 BB had its moments, was less of a phenomenon but it was fun and chaotic in its own way.

ITV BB thus far has been cheap, tacky and crap.

However Channel 4 were idiots for giving it up when all it needed was to be parked for a couple of years to rebuild hype. They can't really pass comment when they willingly gave it up, and their channel is currently struggling. Lowkey I think they do wish they still had BB ... they got a bit too big for their boots when they were riding high on some great original dramas and comedies and thought they didn't need "low brow" Big Brother any more. Having it in reserve as their bread'n'butter was always good for the channel, and it helped them to advertise their other content.

Massive own goal selling it, so not really something they should draw attention to :joker:.

They got rid of it. So they only have themselves to blame.
I'm enjoying it big Brother. Hopefully it will continue to do well.

Vanessa 02-03-2024 03:52 PM

Stay pressed channel 4. They're getting rid of all their best shows. :hehe:

arista 02-03-2024 04:15 PM

Yes SB

Ch4 made a gamble in letting it go.

I said it at the time and I will always say it.

Any business that let's their biggest asset go, is begging for oblivion.

I mean tbf BB on Channel 4 would be going into Series 25 if they hadn't cancelled it back in 2010, so I doubt that it would be getting enough viewers to save Channel 4.

Exactly.

They were trying to push an overly "positive" crowd reaction in the episode, which for BB is just really off imo.

Plus I am personally sick of TV Shows that try to be OTT positive, it's just as bad as the vulgar Reality Shows that creeped into the early to mid 2010's.

….Channel 4 might be the ones we most associate with the birth of BB and for me the best civilian editions were Channel 4…I think that’s because of non stop live feed that our bank accounts weren’t attacked for…plus reality TV of this type was still in a bit of an infancy so ‘social experiment’ also could be applied…well, we could say that it was while we enjoyed the dramas and the clashes etc and eviction nights…but so far as CBB goes, I think that channel 5 aired some of the most iconic ones….like David’s dead …and was Jedward, Channel 5…and the two Katie edition, Katie Hopkins and Katie Price…and Roxanne Pallett season….so I feel that Channel 4 has to share its crown for CBB with Channel 5…because channel 5 styling really seemed to suit and gel with celebrity-dom…..

Agreed CBB3 and 4 were good but apart from that Channel 5 did it better and I would dare to say got bigger celebrities.

I would agree that Ch5 did CBB better - channel 4 for civilian (really no contest). Tbh I think the reason Ch5 CBB is so good is really what I said above - fun and chaotic in its own way. The irreverent chaos of Ch5 Big Brother worked really, really well for the Celebrity seasons basically because it threw such well known characters into utterly farcical situations. The civi seasons only really differed frim the contestants being too self-aware sometimes, but that's not an issue for celebs (because they're media aware by default and the fun is in seeing it start to slip).

For that reason I'll give ITV celeb BB a chance. I'm just not full of hope as I honestly think the civilian season was utter garbage and did not live up to the legacy at all.
