President Biden's Doctors say he does not need a Cognitive Test

This was a Live Debate
on CNN HD USA on UK TV

They had their Doctor (Dr. Sanjay Gupta)
saying Trump did it.
So Biden could do it.

Another younger lady claimed
he did not need it?

[Speaking on Wednesday,
White House press secretary
Karine Jean-Pierre said
Dr O'Connor and Biden's neurologist
"don't believe he needs" a cognitive exam,
and added: "He passes a cognitive test every day,
every day as he moves from
one topic to another topic,
understanding the granular level of these
topics.]

Just do the test Joe Biden

I think that he should do the test.

He is essentially the leader of the western world whilst he is the US President, and it's not good if he has anything wrong with his thought process.

A "successful" test would shut people up, but brushing it aside just looks suspicious.

…so this is for President of the US…the least senile candidate gets the job…?…that’s the standard of job requirement in this modern world…

Looks like it Ammi.

I personally think he should have the test
He has on numerous occasions now, got the names of other Countries leaders wrong.
I found it very worrying that the leader of one of, if not then, most powerful Nations
Stated the President of France was Mitterrand not Macron.

You can make slips once or twice but on the world stage even coming out to speak with a prepared content.
To get things like that wrong, does more than likely signal concern.

Does anyone think that Bush would have passed a cognitive test and he was a lot younger when he took office

Regan was diagnosed with Alzheimer's while he was president, and he continued on

I haven't seen anyone saying a successful test would be necessary to take office? Though it's been heavily suggested, and frankly it should be implied that a president should have all of his marbles :joker:

If they're so confident in his abilities, let him take the test, it would serve as exculpatory evidence against claims he's senile.

Honestly I don't think there's anything majorly wrong with Biden... he's had a lifelong speech disorder that seems to have significantly worsened in his old age but I think any issues are mainly just that - which of course, in a role with vast amounts of public speaking, makes it seem like he's gone totally senile. I genuinely don't think that's the case. I think he's just struggling with communication.

Obviously it's not ideal and as always I think there should be a cap on the age of an incoming president (I think 70 at the start of the first term would be reasonable, and 75 if running for a second non-consecutive term giving an upper age cap of 79 on leaving the presidency) but I don't think he's actually senile, and I think his presentation makes his cognition seem slower than it actually is.

Note that my age caps would have allowed Trump's first term (and he could have had two terms if they ran consecutively), would NOT have ever allowed Biden to become president, and would mean that NEITHER of them could be running now.

Plus I think it seems like a very reasonable age cap at 70 ffs (almost 80 on exit)

neither of the 2 candidates are exactly in their prime. Some of the stuff Trump has garbled recently proves that
