Alien Romulus 2024 - First Teaser Trailer…

The sci-fi/horror-thriller takes the phenomenally successful “Alien” franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

The film stars Cailee Spaeny (“Priscilla”), David Jonsson (“Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy”), Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone”), Isabela Merced (“The Last of Us”), Spike Fearn (“Aftersun”), Aileen Wu. Fede Alvarez (“Evil Dead,” “Don’t Breathe”) directs from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues (“Don’t Breathe 2”) based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett.

“Alien: Romulus” is produced by Ridley Scott (“Napoleon”), who directed the original “Alien” and produced and directed the series’ entries “Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant,” Michael Pruss (“Boston Strangler”), and Walter Hill (“Alien”), with Fede Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon (“Charlie’s Angels”), Brent O’Connor (“Bullet Train”), and Tom Moran (“Unstoppable”) serving as executive producers.

i'm liking this trailer :)

gives me a ''Alien: Isolation'' vibe

also we know Cailee Spaeny's character name
Spoiler:

Rain Carradine
as well as David Jonsson and Isabela Merced their character names
Spoiler:

respectively as Andy, Kay

definitely back to its roots, yes because it was already confirmed timeline wise this is between the first two alien films

the music is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (also behind soundtracks of A Cure for Wellness, Blade Runner: 2049, Shazam, It & It Chapter Two, The Darkest Minds, Mortal Kombat)

Disney no longer has the alien collection (for now) likely that they are rebranding that collection, after Romulus's release  giving that collection icon a newer look

the films are still on there (you gotta search bit more though)

Nicky91 25-05-2024 01:02 PM

good theory this one

indeed where there is a hive, there has to be a queen too (as we know from 1986 Aliens)

it seems Romulus is going to pay tribute to the first two alien films (since timeline wise it is set between those two, but we can make out of this there'll some easter egg references to those two films)

+ James Cameron consulted for the script

what do we make of this, a possible Alien vs Predator 3?

depending on the success of Romulus, and tbh the recent predator prequel ''Prey'' was decently successful

despite it being a fan trailer, would love Will Smith in this sort of film

looking very great, indeed back in same style as first alien films

It looks good imo.

Nicky91 23-07-2024 08:10 AM

loving the xenomorph design

also Fede Alvarez apparently played all Alien and AvP games for his inspiration for this film, and he read everything on xenopedia fandom :D

seems like we will have a sort of Alien and Aliens hybrid in this, like
Spoiler:

one area of the space station looks like similar oldschool design as first alien film, and another area of the station looks more modern design like the second aliens film

also there are a few easter eggs
Spoiler:

from the game alien isolation, the best selling game to date in their franchise

most of the cast aren't that known true, but i kinda like the casting choices, to give newcomers a chance of more international breakthrough and tbh the lead actress Cailee Spaeny very recently won best actress award at Cannes for her role as Priscilla Presley in Priscilla

6 days till theatrical release

so might appear on Disney+ maybe mid October  or sooner given they also did a similar thing with that predator prequel Prey, which Disney also had a huge streaming successes with, with their ''premiere event''

It looks pretty good but at the same time it looks a lot like what we've seen before with Alien.

bots 11-08-2024 08:09 AM

i went to see the original alien in the cinema when it came out with a group of pals. It was really funny when we all jumped out of our seats at the same time

Nicky91 14-08-2024 01:44 PM

the Xenomorphs are my favourite movie monsters, truly beautiful looking creatures

I saw this earlier in the day. Incredibly fun movie. And so clearly inspired by Alien Isolation more than anything else. I knew near enough right from the start that I was going to enjoy it. I do have one immediately obvious criticism that, if it were a feature of another movie that wasn't quite as aesthetically lush and creative (maybe not so much with regards to the overall plot, but definitely in so far as the methods thought up to combat the Xenomorph's defences), would be a death knell for that film, and it's that the Xenomorphs themselves weren't really all that menacing imo. For my money, they were probably the least threatening they've ever been in an Alien movie.
Spoiler:

The human-xeno hybrid, however, was worlds better than its execution in Resurrection, and was really quite unnerving.

I happen to like Alien 3 a great deal more than most Alien fans do, and historically I've ranked it just below the first two and ahead of the others, so don't take it as a bad sign that I'm toying with whether or not this outdid Alien 3. It goes without saying that it doesn't reach the heights of the first two movies. That was never going to happen. But this is definitely a good movie and a fun watch. Easily outdoes Prometheus and Covenant imo.

Mystic Mock 16-08-2024 09:50 PM

I liked Alien Resurrection.

If we weren't talking about the Alien franchise, the BIB could sound like something on Pornhub.:joker:

could be on Disney+ either December or January

Nicky91 15-12-2024 04:25 PM

pretty sure it'll be in January, considering the new series Alien: Earth is also premiering then

makes me think they want to release both on the streaming service at the same time

Nicky91 08-01-2025 12:59 PM

official release date on Disney+ confirmed 15 January, so next week

Nicky91 19-01-2025 01:52 PM

it seems Disney+ version, has some edited scenes compared to the version people saw in cinema's

specifically
Spoiler:

Ian Holm's visual appearance, which Fede took the critiques on board and had some last minute visual changes with the computer
